Pimping my Ride - How often do you really clean and polish your car?

My little red wreck is about to undergo a full valet. The flame red paintwork is now a faded pink and the black bumpers and trim grey and tired. Three of the four hub caps are missing and the stone chips in the bonnet make it look like she has freckles. I admit, I have neglected the car lately, it's one of those jobs that got put on the back burner and then forgotten.
I took the car up to the valet shop this morning, together with new hub caps and seat covers, and the guys there are going to pimp and preen, and make her look like she is fresh fromt he showroom. When you consider it is a 1966 Vauxhall Corsa who has seen better days, I can't wait to see how she looks after all the fuss and attention she will get.
I am expecting a gleaming flame red car, with shining black bumpers and trims, the new hub caps glittering and the seat covers will complete the whole new lease of life. Right now I am getting quite excited about picking up the car later today but it made me feel guilty for not looking after her as I should
So, my friends, how often do you wash and polish your car? Do you clean inside as well as out as often as you should?

Well, you'll have to post an "after" pix for us hun! I have a mini van STUFFED with stuff. I did pull out some empty bags yesterday while I was looking for stuff & threw them away, but that was barely the "tip" of the iceburg! Actually most of that came from near the front of the backseat & mostly on the floor (LOL) so "tip" isn't really the right place to say it came from. As soon as the temp goes down to, say the 70's in the afternoon, I'm going to try & get some stuff done with the car. Hard to do it when the temp is in the 90's.

LOL it's a it worrying when you realise that your vehicle is so full of*stuff* isn't it. Now the car has been done, I really am determined to keep it looking good. Here's the pic:-)

I can't believe you are driving a car over 40 years old!! That's amazing. My last car was 23 years old when I gave it away last year. The motor has had it and the paint job is badly faded but other than that it's in good nick....needs new tyres again. I've done an incredible amount of kilometres in that car and apart from a few obvious things ...water pump, radiator, shocks, master brake cylinder, it was a very reliable car.
