How do you stop a cat from using your plants pots as a litter box?

I have a plant that my cat pooped and i think peed in it turned some of the leaves yellow and it realy made me mad. how do you stop them from doing it besides thumping there nose saying no or squirting them with water is there a better way.

We had a cat growing up that did this. My mom solved the problem. It sounds strange, but she put dirt in the litter box. The cat started using the litter box and stopped using the plants. I guess the dirt in the litter box was easier to go in than a plant.

You'll need to re-pot the plants in new dirt and probably a new pot (or scrub the old one w/bleach and rinse well)
Put river stones (you can get them from craft section) on top of the soil - that's what worked w/mine!

Thank you I will try to get this done b4 more damage is done its about time to repot in a bigger pot anyways.
