Ten years ago the coughing fits I was having gradually became a daily occurrence lasting almost a half hour on average. I always said that I would quit when it became more uncomfortable to smoke than not to smoke, and that time came, and I did.
A few days ago I had another occurrence of being woken up with a liquid in my throat that is VERY uncomfortable. I tried to cough it up, drink water, even this last time I had some PeptoBismol and it is not for what this is --
The esophagus is the tube leading from your mouth to the stomach. When the muscles at the bottom of that tube doesn't close properly, stomach fluids go up the tube and irritates that tube or your throat. It can lead to more serious conditions, including cancer.
My chiropractor gave me calcium supplements as well as something called "Digestive Support" that aids digestion. But along with that, I very strongly urged I look into losing weight (I'm 5'10" at 285 lbs. I used to be 255 until I went on a diet, but that is another post ...) and look into curtailing my alcohol consumption (dang)
So once again my body is telling me I need to change my life around again. I suppose having alcohol as one's favorite recreational activity is a bad thing for one my age, as well as cream sauces, delectable red meats consumed with Cabernet Sauvignon ...
(sigh) you youngins have it easy :D
