Have you guys seen this news report yet? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070927/ap_on_fe_st/odd_hospital_bite;_ylt=AqlIoQ0TzISLcuOmIUChGaeek3QF The short version; parents take their 3 yr old to have some blood drawn, the kid probably squirms around a bit (he's 3, that's pretty normal) and the tech BIT him in to hold him still while she drew his blood. Bit him hard enough to leave an imprint of her teeth in his shoulder. Can anyone offer anything that sounds like a defense for this sort of abuse and outrageousness?

this person needs a help honestly. We all know that biting someone can cause so many problems to start with. To go and bite a 3 year old for not siting still. She would have goten much more than some blood from me.

That is horrible! I hope that this person is punished for this behavior! I hope the parents press charges or something?

It sounds like she was fired, but I wonder if it's a licensed position and if she'll just be able to work somewhere else.

I would have smacked her in her mouth if she would have bit my kid. I can't believe she did that and wonder how many other kids she's bit. The kid is lucky he didn't catch anything. I hope they sue the daylights out of her for that stunt. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Honestly if that was my child and some B**ch tech bit my kids I would of punched her/him right in the f'en mouth. that tics me off when I hear crap like that. Why in the world would anyone do that to a small child... I have had a hospital story with my middle child and a nurse at our hospital when she was 4 and tried to take her blood...She bent my daughters arm all the way back off the bed and she started to cry casue it hurt and the nurse told her to sit still and shut up. Well I went over the table and grabbed her by the head of her hair and b**ched slapped her. The Dr came in and made her leave and another nurse came in to do it and my daughter didn't cry or move or anything...The good part of that is that nurse did get fired and she no longer works at that hospital!

I'm not by nature a violent or explosive person, but I'm pretty sure if I saw an adult biting my kid I wouldn't be able to stop myself from hitting them.

That sounds so wierd its not even funny o0 Biting is never defensible and biting a little kid even less... I would probably do my best to get that tech out of the job as fast as possible o0

There is NO defense for that ridiculous behavior. I would SUE the place. Biting can cause bacterial infections and lord knows what else. Not to mention if someone BIT my kid, I don't think I would have the temperament NOT to throw a loud and threatening fit to the person and the people in charge. My son had blood taken often at age 4 and he was scared because the nurse who did it hurt him badly the time before. He kept pulling away when she went after his arm and finally she said, "I'll have to tie you down if you move again." I told her that he was nervous because she did such a poor job last time and she will NOT tie my child down. I asked for someone else who took the blood effortlessly. I really hope the person who bit that child is fired and not allowed back into any sort of medical work.

That's a weird way of controlling a patient so they could take blood, that tech needs some re-training by the sound of things. Usually they try and distract the child with a toy or something, I suppose biting the kid is more effective, he would be so shocked he'd keep still. It's not acceptable though, like I said they need some more training.

At least the tech was fired. My daughter has a get fear of needles. When she was a baby she had a reaction to an immunization and even since then is so afraid of any needles. A couple of months ago she needed to get blood work done for the first time. I talked to the techs letting them know that she was scared and I was nervous about her moving during it. They had an assistant come and hold the arm so it didn't move and I held her hand and tried to have her look my way and distract her. She is 12. It was no problem at all and they loved helping her out. There is no reason for this twisted behavior at all! It must be something sick in that techs head that would make them to that to him.

What the heck is this world coming to? That just makes my stomach hurt. I can't believe anyone would do something like that. I don't care what excuse anyone could come up with. There is no excuse for something like that. There are better ways to distract a child. Wow!
