hey friends! ohayo! (good morning!) its the last day of the weekdays and i still have a lot to do at the office. first and foremost, i am tasked to go to our head office and personally bring some documents to be signed by our director. the problem is, i have never been there! i have never set foot on our head office! not once! not ever. ^.^;; im torn between going alone and bringing someone who knows the place. i can go alone and just ask around once im there but im really a shy person, and a little less self-confident. ^__^;; and im afraid i might get lost! LOL our office is located on the third floor of a building and they say there arent elevators (which i doubt) and im worried i might not find the stairs and get lost! LOL i can bring somebody but i still dont know if anyone is available and im worried they might think im so dumb. ^__^;; its nearly 8 in the morning and i still havent decided. ^__^;; so what do you do in times like these?

Well Secretbear, apart from the fact that i am not shy and very self-confident I would do it on my own. I will feel excited too, so go on and do it alone dear. It will help you gain self-confidence, and while onyour way to there, keep telling you self the following mantra: I feel great today, and am having a great time while on my way to encounter my boss. Will meet all new people and make new friends :) Good luck dea and have a blessed day! TheFortunes

ha ha ...this is INTERESTING!!!! if I were you, I'd go alone! I'd get the correct address 1st. 2nd, know the person who i want to meet. 3rd, what i want to say. 4th, i go - this is as adventurous as going into the jungle for the very first time except of course jungle is more DANGEROUS, like me.....^__^ good luck little baby bear dear!!!!

well it depends if you are just going on a trip or to tour around. i would gladly be with someone who knoes the place around. when i worked at japan (that was twice) and that was two different places. one at koenji and the other at kawasaki. since i am a solo singer then i went there alone. though there are a lot of filipina who works at the same place i do butthey are all asleep when i woke up. so i try to walk around and get familiar with every street and of course every shopping mall there is.

cutie baby - greet me on my birthday!
its okay for me to walk around if the place is not that hot like here in the city and if the streets are commuter-friendly. if its in Japan then i dont care if i walk around everyday! i'd gladly do it! LOL anyway, i went alone. ^__^

i've done and do both. For me it's whatever I'm feeling like at the time. Sometimes I'd rather just be alone. Other times I'd rather have someone to go with me. It really all depends on my mood that day. I'm not a shy person. I do hate to be lost though. But I'm pretty good at finding my way around. So I'm pretty good with going alone if I have to. If you can find someone..take them.

that's my problem. im not very good at finding my way around. i easily get worried and im afraid to ask people i dont know and im not very good at directions. LOL sometimes though, i find my way back.. sometimes, i find it really difficult and get lost. LOL so as much as possible i want to be with someone who knows the place than go alone. ^__^;; thanks raychill. and oh, i went alone. and surprise! i was fine and got back in one piece. LOL but i was super worried when i was there. ^__^;;

Well that's good. I think you need to learn to not be so shy and scared of things. it's a completely different world when you don't have to hide behind shyness and such.

If there is someone around to show you where it is, fine just go with that person... but if not body is around go and find out by yourself... what is the worse thing can happen to you? get lost and look for help... so do not worry, and do what you have to do... At least you are not going to another country, where nobady speak your languaje!!

I have always loved adventure and I have been to places which I have never visited before and found my experiences very enlightening. Don't worry that you will get lost, because it is normal. You just have to take courage and go there all by yourself...well, as long as its not a dangerous place to be around.

in our family, i'm the one they rely on when going to a new place... i'm not shy to ask around, but i choose whom to ask... you know how some filipinos are... they sometimes give you directions although they don't have a clue where the place is... i experienced that...

yeah! I know what you mean! i've experienced that too. what's worst is they give you the wrong directions. ^.^;; and you get lost even more. I also choose who to ask, I usually ask cops or security guards. ^__^

I usually bring along my favorite companion -- (he's my bf)-- but now I'm thinking that I want to go to some place on my own. Well, I just want to experience how is it to be alone and be able to explore places by talking to strangers and making new friends along the way. I think that would really be exciting.

Hello! For me it depends on the situation. I've done both. Before, I used to be a shy person, I don't like the idea of going to any unfamiliar place alone, i'd rather go with someone who knows the place and feel safe. But as I grow up i've realize that I can't always depend on anybody, I only have myself to rely on and nothing else. In order for me to build self-confidence and not be scared of the outside world i've decided to do it alone. At first it was a funny feeling, there were times that I even felt like crying but I got thru it. It is actually scary at first but after you've done it you'll feel very proud of yourself, it's like you've achieved something. My father told me one good advice that really gave me a boost: Don't be afraid to go alone and venture in unfamiliar places for as long as you know how to read and talk, you'll be okay. Talk and ask around and read the directions that's the most important thing. I'm glad you did it alone. Nice feeling no? *smile* take care. Well done to you! ciao! c",)

I would have preferred to go with someone but no one was available. it would have been nice if I was with someone which I can talk to while waiting or while going there, talking lessens nervousness. ^__^;; I did go alone though. and got back safely. ^__^

Hi there You can do it alone. Take each step as it comes, hold your head up high and put on an act. Never show people your weakness as that gives them one over on you (if they ever want to use it that is). Take your time, take deep breathes and you will be surprised at how easy you find it. I know you can do it just by seeing your confidence in starting and responding yo discussions on mylot. Good luck and I will be with you. Denise

I think you should ask around. You will not be lost if you ask someone. I am sure there are kind people around that are willing to help you. I was like that before, but i noticed i will not learned if i will have someone who always accompany me. You should atleast be independent sometimes and I am sure you can do it.

By the time that you read this... i hope you went there alone... the only way to overcome your shyness and to develop your self confidence is to frequently do things on your own especially when it entails mingling or talking to people... as they say... the only way to overcome fear is to face it...

if i'm in good mood, then i will go alone, and ask around in the new place. it is a good habit to go alone to new places. first, you can know how to communicate with strangers. second, you can be more independent. but dont' believe in everyone easily. if i'm very tired or i have few time to do something in a new place, then i must find a person who is familiar with the new place. if i'm tired, then i have no good mood to find the place, and i hate asking around in the new place. then the person can give you a guide, then you can save much time and you can have a good mood, too.

I'll probably look around for someone who is available and if they are kind enough to accompany me to go there. If no one's free then I have no choice but to go alone. Don't worry, even if you go by yourself, you'll be fine! I'm sure that the person who's going to direct you to the director's office won't bite and will be helpful. hope you'll be ok there, good luck ;)
