What about the profession of translator?

Is anyone here a translator or interpreter? Recently one of my friends want to develop in this field. He majored in english when in college. He wants to be an interpreter. So he is eager to know more about this field. Maybe you can give him some good suggestions. Thanks.

i once did a job as a translator.i like it very much.but my pronunciation is not good enough. i was doubt if i can develop it as my career. and later,i find a job as a HR.i wish i can pick it up oneday.
