I had what I consider well 5 seconds...its a long story but to cut it short, I had a crush on a very popular singer, for years, quite a few years and I became good friends with him that he always asked me to sit at the band table, this was when I just first got to know him, at this gig I was just sitting there enjoying the show, the band worked so hard, sang all night on a hot night at the end of the show a man came up to the table and grabbed my hand and thanked me, I said for what, and he kept shaking my hand telling me what a great show it was, and still thanking me, the guys in the band couldn't believe it, I kept saying but I didn't do anything, the boys did all the work but he just kept shaking my hand, I think at that point I must have been as red as a beetroot....

I have had my fifteen minutes of fame, and it was MORE than enough for me. Back in 1993, I appeared on the Geraldo Show with my husband, my exhusband and his new wife. The trip to New York, and the time we spent in the CBS building was a lot of fun.....the time actually spent taping the show, not so much. We were momentarily famous/infamous in our hometown...made the front page of the newspaper, and all that stuff! LOL

I don't think the statement is true... the late artist Andy Warhol once claimed that in the future, every person will have 15 minutes of fame. It was just a statement he made and he may not have even been serious when he said it.
There are so many people in the world, even in just teh leading Western countries, I don't see how even a large percentage could be famous for any length of time. And it depends on what you consider "fame" too.
No, I haven't had my 15 minutes of fame, and unless it's going to help me get a better job or something like that, I can live without it. I'd be hapy to sell it to someone else who wants it. ;-)

I guess my 15 minutes of fame involves singing for the Amarillo Symphony with a local opera singer who has sung all around the world. I had gone back to school at 38, wanted to finish my college education.."just because" and learned to sing while I was at it. I auditioned and won an important role in an opera...the 2nd female of the small cast, and got to sing with professionals for the first and only time in my life. Pretty heady stuff mixing with the professional singers who travel the world singing opera. Made me a "celebrity" for one night! LOL. Now...I'm back to decorating my wedding cakes for a living. LOL.
