We are now "proud" owners of a 1981 Ford Mustang LOL

Yep, that's right, a $400, 4 cylinder, 4 passenger car that is 26 years old. It is the replacement for our newer 5 passenger truck that got wrecked and 8 passenger van that has electrical prolems and won't run.
It is white with a red interior and is actually in fairly decent shape considering. The brakes are hard and it doesn't idle right. The pins are worn out on the driver's door so we have to lift up on it to get it to shut which is impossible for me once I'm in it so instead I just climb in the window LOL. It can go a whopping 30mph on hills but it did manage 65mph on a LONG straight stretch of highway.
It is the same body style that we've used to build race cars with so our 2 year old thinks it's a new race car!
I'm not really complining though because it is WAY better than not having a car at all. It's just a tiny bit embarrassing to go back to driving something like that after finally having nicer vehicles....I know my parents will NOT be impressed, but then again they never will be no matter what I do.
So I just wanted to share that with you all and find out if any of you had interesting/embarrassing car stories to share. I could sure use some reassurance that I'm not the only one that could actually be happy to get a car like this... :)

Well I guess that's good than having none at all, maybe a little bit of tune-up will do the trick!;)
I'm not that knowledgeable in rides, but I believe Ford offers good cars. Don't worry about your parents' opinion about it, just don't let them see your reactions of not liking it at all!LoL

Definitely better than none at all! It's been a long 3 weeks without the truck plus 3 months before that without the van! It will be fine with a little work...did I mention I have to use a coat hanger to shift LOL? I'm going to make it look as nice as possible before they see it tomorrow (and hope they don't see me go through the window when it's time to leave!)

Actually, it's going pretty good. We did a little work to it so it runs (and stops) better. Now we just have to get new door pins, a side mirror, and a shifter...but none of that is necessary anytime soon.

I thought everyhing else I said explained it pretty well but here's the short explanation for you...
I'm glad to finally have a car after being without and it's certainly better than nothing, it's just not really the kind of car to be actually proud of in the full sense of the word...I was being slightly sarcastic.
