Do you remember your child's first word?

I was wondering if kids say pretty much the same things when they first learn to talk. I saw absolutely no pattern with my girls: tickle, key and book were their first words. I think tickle was weird because of the two syllables, but other than that, they seem pretty mundane. What did yours say first?

Growling?? I've never heard of that either! Too funny! I wonder if she is a little afraid of the other people? I guess I used to say "BOO" at strangers, trying to scare them away. And I think they're all pretty unique-one of mine told people she wanted to be a teradactyl when she grew up!

I am mother of 1 son. He is now almost 14 months. His first word was "kijk". That is Dutch word, and i mean 'see' in English. Maybe because every time we went to walk, i always said 'kijk hond' means 'see dog'. It's funny because we don't really teach him about that word. What we always try him to speak is 'mama or papa'. But until now, he still not really can say mama or papa. Maybe next month ^_^

I think my girls had 'mom' WAY down on their lists of words-like months into the process. 'Dad' was pretty quick, but mom -eh, just not that important, I guess!

Both of my boys said daddy first, and they were both 7 months, my oldest son said daddy then mommy then he really didn't start speaking until he was 18 months or so, as he was too busy playing and running around, his next word was hi, my youngest said daddy, then his brother's name, then mommy, then hi, and now he says "all done" .. he's quite a little talker, he's 12 months now.
