Pictures from text?

I've seen some really neat things like smileys (duh) and roses and some full pictures. I'd love to see some text pictures and discussion on how to improve or change them. Oh and what you would use a particular text picture for! (like a sig line or something)

I don't know how to modify smilies or other little pics, but I know that if you search for "emoticons","smilies codes" or similar word combinations, you can find lists and lists of shortcuts for making them. There are literally hundreds of them! Of course, email or forums have to be compatible with the "language" for them to work, but most email or html forums can support them. Here are just a couple of examples: http://www.computeruser.com/resources/dictionary/emoticons.html http://ca.messenger.yahoo.com/emoticons.php

Emoticons are cool but I was thinking the pictures made from text. If I could actually do one myself I'd put it here. In chat rooms I've seen speeding trains, Snoopy, steaming cups of hot chocolate with marshmallows, all kinds of cool stuff.

I can not think of any particular use for a text image at the moment, except maybe as a web link. It is very easy to create one, and can be done in Microsoft Word, Publisher and virtually any photo editing program. I created this one in Adobe Photoshop.

That did not display well due to having a transparent background, so I have changed the background to white.
