If your neighbors were being investigated would you tell them?

What would you do if an investigator shows up at your door and starts asking questions about your neighbors. Would you lie or tell the truth? If you would withhold the truth........ Under what circumstance would you lie to protect your neighbor.... Would you lie to protect them if it was insurance fraud? Would you lie to protect them if it was a criminal matter? If you would tell the truth.... Would you tell the truth even if it means they would end up in jail? Would you tell the truth even if they were to find out and maybe retaliate with violence? Either way, would you tell your neighbors that an investigator came around asking questions? I know what I did or would do. I'm just curious what everyone else would do.

I'd definately tell the truth. As for telling the neighbors, if they asked I'd tell them but then I'm that type of person. I don't hide from what I do. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Absolutely right! How do they even remember the facts and the fictions without tripping on them somewhere along the way. Just like that "catch me if you can" character played by Leonardo DeCaprio. Not my cup of tea but interesting for the movies LOL!

They sent their daughter over to get me and the wife did ask straight out. She was crying and seemed embarrassed that all the neighbors got a visit from this investigator. She kept asking me why I didn't go over and tell her right away and I said if she's being investigated for anything, I don't want to be seen hanging around and want no part of it. I'm guessing I was being too honest I guess.

If the investigators were legit (I'm paranoid and I think would ask for the FBI director to show up, LOL), I would tell them what they wanted to know. No doubt in my mind that is what I would do. If they are innocent, then nothing will probably come of it. But if they aren't, I could be fostering and enabling criminals if I didn't talk about it. I wouldn't feel guilty about it, and really wouldn't fear retaliation unless the investigators warned me about that possibility.

Of course, finding out if the guy was a real investigator and not a fake, was important. I'm not one to successfully lie either but answered only the questions specifically without elaborating on anything... I would be fearful of retaliation though and don't trust their "clique" that's building around us.

Oh, I wasn't sure if this had really happened or not. It must have been very disturbing, I'm sure.

It was unpleasant and they stay hidden most of the time. They live in the shadows of the night and that's creepy.
