I came across this book that had a sticker on the back from bookcrossings.com and sombody had set it free to travel. I checked out the site out of curiosity and it sounded very interesting and fun....
They have a community of over 592,642 members in over 120 countries. Registration is free, so I've just become a member.
I was wondering if anybody eles has heard or come across this before?
I think it is great to see where your books travel too, and sharing the experience with others...
check out the site if you like here http://www.bookcrossing.com/home
Enjoy and have Fun :)

I have been a member of bookcrossing for a few years but not very active. I have been disappointed with people not journalling when they "catch" my books. I have recently become more active though as I got an email telling me of a book release. I got in touch with the member and we made arrangements so that I could get it. I am reading it now. I also made contact with another member who only lives a few blocks from me. We have been emailing back and forth and she is interested in joining my writing book.
It's a good site if people participate. I don't release a lot of books because I don't like to get rid of my books. But I will picked up used duplicates and send them out.

That is so cool that you found a book. I learned about bookcrossing from a summer reading program training I went to for work. I have made my library center a bookcrossing zone now. I love it.

My husband has put all three of his novels on Book Crossings, to travel around the world. One good place he found to leave books is at the Phoenix airport. He left one there one day when he was picking me up from a flight down there. Another good place is in a cafe in downtown Sedona, because there are so many tourists in that area, and one never knows where in the world the book will wind up.

That's what facinates me - where the book travels. I think it is a wonderful idea. It has definately put a smile on my face being involved in book crossing...

I love bookcrossing and used to be vey active. I still register and journal all my books and participate in the odd trade, but I don't wild release them so much any more as I live somewhere where most of my neighbours are uninterested in my books. However, I do release from time to time and I'm always happy to give my available books ot friends to read and pass on themselves.
Once I've read a book, I'm not normally interested in reading it again so I find this a fascinating way of sharing. There's also a great sense of community with Bookcrossing and I met the lady who has become my 'real life' best friend via bookcrossing when she contacted me because we lives in the same town.

I am a member of bookcrossing. I even actually found a wild release, which I thought was pretty cool. I do have nine books out int the wild, but they have never been journaled.
I'm not that active anymore, but am thinking it is time to get active again....
