Just when I thought mylot was rid of the "problem" members......

Funny Face to problem members! - green funny face

I shouldn't be discussing this but it's on my mind and I'm here so here goes. I don't know if the "old timers" of mylot have noticed but it's been very nice here on mylot lately. I'm sure mylot admin got rid of the "problem" members that were lurking around and basically bothering nice people. They were banned and found ways to get back in and at one point started an anti mylot site....not the recent one but going back quite a bit of time. Tonight I was looking at some discussions and found one that I got a weird feeling about and so I checked the profile and all the discussions on it. I will bet my right arm that it is one of those people back here again. I'm sure the profile is NOT an honest one and I wouldn't think the discussion that are on a personal level are either. I have very good intuition and knew the last time they came back and I know this time too. I'm lucky this time that they are not giving me a bad time. Has anyone had any problems in any of their discussions? Has it always been the same person? Did you notice anything about the "style" of writing? I sure did!

Well my rating star is still in the crapper, so Mylot didn't get rid of all the problem clowns, I meant "members".

It's just not fair theprogrammer for the problem clowns to be able to hurt our ratings. Isn't there something you can do about this, have you contacted mylot about this issue? You have been on here for quite awhile, what does it take to get your star's number back up there where it belongs? Anything I can do to help?

That's another thing I didn't think of. Although my star is a 10 my rating under it has gone down considerably and I can't get it to go back up no matter how I try. I agree, you shouldn't still have a 5 after all this time and the good postings you make. Someone is definitely after us!!

Nothing can really be done Appls. I did contact mylot about it already, not only did they not contact me back, apparently they've got a carbon copy response for claims like mine "Oh we are looking into it"... I say NOT! Other people on my friends list have tried rating my posts positive but that doesn't seem to work. It only seems to go down now. Sad part is, I post what I think and if I do debate I post reasonable questions, I don't go around trying to harass members. But I guess all that I've done; all the help with social, life, relationship and parenting problems (I'm not even in the latter two and can still help people with them); all the helpful posts on cooking, cleaning, computer work; all the various well thought discussions... there are times it does seem like its worth nothing. But even if I somehow get the almighty 1, I'll still keep posting. More and more people are seeing that I'm truly something on mylot.

well i haven't been much in here since i'm busy with my work and i haven't posted any discussion..i haven't heard of any complaints again about this meanies until i saw your discussion..are they messing up with you again? if they do then you should report them to mylot admin so they would ban them again..but what i just don't get is how do they manage to come back..they can't get back using the same IP address and the same name..they can use different username but pretty soon mylot would know..thats what happened to me..i mean i didn;t do anything nor got to be mean with others..they just banned me for copy and pasting jokes..but wheni get back using different username they know and banned me again coz of my IP address..i just got back when i settle everything to them..and i guess its not that big mistake for them to kick me out here for good.

I was also banned at one time only for sticking up for myself and mylot and unknowingly copy and pasting wrong. I don't think it has anything to do with ip adresses. I just changed my id and payment info and am being very good since then. I don't want to give mylot a reason to ban me again so I'm not making any mistakes this time.

The only problems I've ever really had was in a discussion I posted not too long ago. But the members were ones I'd never seen before. I have noticed that other than that, it's been very pleasant around the site lately, and I hope it stays that way. If I were you, I would just keep an eye out for the ones you have doubts of, and just avoid them if possible. Less hassle that way.

The name I noticed is one I have never noticed before either but they keep coming up with new ones and new profiles. The only way I spot them is by the way they write.

One person in particular writes as if they were practically illiterate and I find that hilarious. They don't even do that right as far as I'm concerned...

While not "problem" members, I've seen a few "reincarnations" of people that may have been banned...like you I get that intuitive twitch since I'll notice the "new" persons style of writing is identical and then when out of curiousity I check their page and notice their discussions, the topic is identical to the former member--I don't know how they manage to come back, especially if they've been banned do you?

Pye I was wondering the same thing myself. How do they manage to get another account? Unless they use bogus names and email addy's to get back on here.

I knew I wasn't the only one who saw this happening. I don't know how they do it especially where the payment information is needed.

Well, my guess would be that they use a proxy site to log in here. if you wish to learn what a proxy site is check this site of mine that explains it: www.cspy.org Proxies are usually used by people which are in countries with no free access to each and every site on the Internet, and by students and school kids ;) But "smart" guys use this sites too, and I guess that when MyLot closes access to a certain IP address these people are able to get here and make an account under the IP address of the proxy server they are using. I am fairly new and for the most part everyone has been very nice, and great posting. There has only been one person who I have found very, very rude. And there was one topic I was blown away with the way it was written, but they took it off because of the content. I guess every where ya go your bound to come across some bad apples:)

No matter what site you go on there are always a few bad apples. They make it a problem for those of us who are nice and follow guidelines.

I have been talking to people on-line for about 14 years (wholey cow!!! it's been that long????) and there have ALWAYS been people that are around just to cause problems. They enjoy it, they think they are superior because they can rile you up. I have learned a LONG time ago to just ingore these people and let them go bother someone else. Eventually they get tired of not getting the right response out of you (anger) and they go away. I know it's frustrating, but you are only feeding the fire by trying to change them or get them to leave you alone. Just ignore them.

I've also been on the internet for at least 14 years. In fact I would 20 because I was on it when it started out with just bulletin boards and no real internet which to this day I can't explain. Anyway, I am aware not to let people get to me but there have been times when I was personally attacked and called unnamable names and for my sanity have to fight back.

I haven't had a problem recently with anyone. But I have seen on other's discussions that they had some "trouble makers" responding. I have had and also have seen on other discussions, where someone will post something like, "I don't know b/c I don't do this, or don't watch tv". If they have nothing to contribute to the discussion , why are they responding? They most likely will not receive a positive rating, if I don't have anything to contribute, I don't answer. I'd be wasting my time and the person who has the discussions time as well. I'm glad to know that mylot will ban trouble makers, that was something I had wondered about before. This is a very good topic and I am glad you brought it to our attention.

The member's who only answer with short responses are only doing so to earn money and the trouble makers never do theat. They go into long discussions and aren't very nice about it either.

Every now and then I will notice a couple of "odd" response to my discussions. I will basically just leave a smartass comment to them and report them or rate them negatively or just ignore them. Maybe it doesn't bother me as much now that I haven't been as active on here as I used to be.

When I get a smartass response I don't even bother with it and is it's really inappropriate I just give it a minus rating.

It is unfortunate, ctry, but these people will find a way to sneak back in. They have learned how to get around the system, but, as you say, their victims can easily recognize their style of writing. I have seen some changes here on myLot but I can't honestly say they are all for the better. I have been following a story(it seems like forever), with regular installments posted by a member. I find it to be quite good. For some unexplainable reason, they have started to delete the posts. There has been nothing objectionable in the material, so I am wondering what is behind this. He says that they have given no reason for the deletions. I am really curious. I believe that all members should be given a reason as to why their posts have been deleted.

So far I have not had a discussion reported or deleted but know of discussions that have been deleted by mistake and mylot reinstated them. Maybe that's the problem your friend is having.

Hi Ctrymuziklvr - I have had only once a member bothering me here, but after his "comment" was taken off my discussion he didn't bother to follow up in others. I am not such a long member of MyLot but love the site and plan to stay. I have no idea which is the anti-mylot site, could you send me the URL of it please as I'd like to have a look and see what these folks are up to ;/ TheFortunes

I'm pretty new so I haven't come across anyone "nasty" (tho I've seen a few genuine weirdo's on here, but hey, we've all got weirdnesses!) I did wonder if someone got out of hand, if myLot would ban them - but having run a very large forum before the only way to truly rid yourself of someone is via IP address and disallow proxy access to your site - and even then someone determined will come back via a library computer. Yes some people DO need to get a life!! And yes once someone's established a "style" and they get the boot & come back they're pretty easy to pick out!

I do not examine writing styles to see whether that person is one that myLot kicked out and now has returned with another name, and possibly a different email address. I am more interested in the subjects they bring up, and how they react to answers to their posts. You are right about being nice here, but that is because people are avoiding discussing serious subjects. I do not consider what kind of food you like and why, what good deeds you did for someone, or you observed Mrs. So and So had a lovely garden full of daisies and petunias, and the other day, a woman lost her ring, and then give a whole discussion on that her great uncle who was a hero in World War two got this from a dying Jewish boy who was rescued from a concentration camp, etc. Mind you, I do not like anti myLot sites, but I hope these anti myLot sites do not increase because I do not want myLot to just be a tralala we are all happy site.

Good luck to you then! But be on the lookout for your rating going down and responses that seem to want to start a "heated" discussion.
