Why does a women try to hide her age?

It's a "woman thing," we love to think, feel and LOOK youthful. It flatters us if someone mistook us for a younger age. Also people stereotyped older women with "incapacity."

I don't try to hide my age at all. I'll be 51 in November. I don't even wear make up or dye my hair. I've earned all the gray.

maybe because women love to stay young and pretty and adorable all the time..but i dont hide my age..well, not yet..hahaha i dunno if i'll have to when time comes..when say, i'll be 40..hahaha

Very pertinent Post! Hopefully, some of our female members here through some useful light on this issue. I feel, everyone wants to feel younger and no one wants that she be addressed as Respected Aunty, so they keep on hiding their age. In today's modern world there are so many techniques available that one can hide her age, so if that is possible, what is the need to tell the correct age. Everyone wishes to befriend younger lot. You would see middle aged females like the company of younger girls and feel satisified talking and chatting with them. The desire to feel and look younger, I think, compels a female to hide her actual age. When anybody compliments her (a middle aged female) - Hey! you are looking like a 16 years or 20 years old girl, her joy know no bounds and she reaches on the seventh sky. :):)

No offense I am 32 and still get carded for ciggs. You have to be 18 here to buy them. As for acholhol I just put my i.d with it. helps to keep the checkout line moving lol

I don't know, but me and my Mom and my friends never try to hide our age, especially 'coz most people think we're younger than our real age he he he he... I think an age is just a number, anyway. Maybe some people don't want to tell their age 'coz they feel afraid of other people's reaction?????

It's some women's secret of keeping young. They also get a kick out of letting others guess how old they are. I used to be guilty of this, and I still am with some people especially when I'm in the company of young people.

There is a saying that "Never ask a woman how old she is and a man how rich he is". I suppose Age to a woman is a secret since woman cares about being beautiful very much. And every woman enjoys being young and likes hearing other people saying that she is pretty and young.... Andy

I don't hide my age... I just rarely think about it, because in my mind, I'm not that old! I have an inner life that is vital and young... I feel like I'm about 30 years old, mentally. Hope it stays that way... I don't ever want to be a grumpy old lady!
