Why do we need to go to church every Sunday?

Today is Sunday and every Sunday we go to church and attend mass. Why do you think we need to go to church every Sunday? Well, for us it's the only day out of seven that God asked for our time so we make it a point to go to church every Sunday. I like going to church because i'd like to spend time w/ the Lord, rejoicing, glorifying, praising, remembering, praying and thanking HIM. We asks for forgiveness and blessings from God and we don't forget to thank him for everything. We always remember that "without HIM we are Nothing". Did you go to church on Sunday? Why do you think you need to go to church every Sunday? :)

I don't go to church every Sunday, rather I don't go at all and haven't been in quite some time. We've had to move a lot and just haven't found one that we felt comfortable with but then again we haven't looked all that much either. Kind of given up for the time being. However I don't feel like we need to go every Sunday because I feel God knows what is in my heart and that I pray to Him a lot so that's what matters more than anything. I'm okay with people who want to go to church but it's just not for me, at least not at the time being.

I am a Christian and I have attended several different churches, and have known many hypocrites who also attended some of these churches. I don't consider them any better than myself just because they did their praying in one building as opposed to another so no, I don't consider it necessary to attend church.

well, i go to church only when i want to..i dont want to go there just because i'm obliged to go..i dont like that..it's not that i dont like going to church..it's just that i go when i feel like going..because if i go there when i dont feel like going, it's still useless and i'll only feel guilty because i'm not putting my heart n mind into what's going on in there..i can pray and talk to God anytime, anywhere..so for me, going to church shouldn't be an obligation. it shouldnt be forced on anyone..

We are not obliged to go and it's not compulsory, the thing is we just practice our religion and attending mass is one of it, it's also good because we can hear the word of the Lord and receive blessing through holy communion. People has different religious beliefs and i respect everyone of them but i still think we need to practice our religion and give extra time and effort to God by going to church :)

Interesting, the last time I went to Catholic Church, it was manditory. Either go or I had to confess missing it as a sin since in the eyes of the Catholic Church, at least then, I hadn't kept holy the Sabath day. I was always brought up that it was manditory for all Catholics to go every Sunday.

Sunday is the day of tradition..actually the Sabbath is on Saturday but some Churches have a service in the middle of the week..or like my wife's religion..Catholic...Saturday night Mass..but anyday of the week is good but Sunday is traditional...you don't have to have a special day to worship God..everday you should be thanking God and asking Him for His blesssing...this last Sunday I could not go to Church as I had stayed up all night so I was not able to go...the spirit was willing but the flesh is weak..lol..sometimes things hapen and God understand us...the last night Jesus was on earth his own disciples could not stay awake as he requested...they all fell asleep..so we all have our weakness as we are only human with human limitations... My father used to say the devil keeps us from doing what we should do..maybe so

going and hearing Sunday mass is one way for me to thank God for all the wonderful blessings I recieved and will receive. It's also my way of cleansing the sins I have committed. God bless.

Pagan Christianity - A book tackling the issue of pagan practices carried out throughout Christendom, that have been practised without question.
Well, like a huge number of Christians, you also practice pagan rituals that you have inherited by way of your adherence to or proclamation of Christianity! Many Christians, blind to pagan rituals incorporated into the religion from time immemorial, take part in these rituals because it is the norm of thei religion. Some rituals include going to church on Sunday and Easter. Every Christian worth his or her salt knows that Easter is a pagan ritual that has been popularised by the commercialisation of holidays and religious activities. For instance, Sunday was instituted by the Roman government that ruled the early Christians. The early Christians could worship on their appointed day for fear of retribution. So they established their worship day on the same day as their colonisers worshipped their pagan gods.

I have always asked that same question. Growing up we went to church each and every sunday. We also attended catechism one evening per week and went to church school in the summer. As an adult, I rarely go to church. In fact, I haven't been in years. I do pray all the time and am very spiritual. I try to be a good person and I'm pretty sure God is ok with it.

Hi, the reason why we go to church is because we want to praise him, we want to thank him for the blessings that we received all day long, and we give thanks to the Lord because we are still alive in this world. He is our strength and life. Actually, it would be nice if we are going to church everyday but since some people have a full-time job, they can no longer go everyday. Sunday is the rest day or dayoff for most people who are working from Monday to Saturday. So I think that is the main reason why most people go to church every Sunday only. Have a nice day and God speed!

Yes, I attend masses every Sundays and sometimes during the weekdays. For me it is the only way I have time with God and for thanking him for the blessings that he has given to us and for asking him to forgive us for our sins. I like going to church and listening to the gospel.

I go to church on a Wednesday. It's more solemn because there are fewer people. Well, I attend mass because it helps me anchor myself in God while I'm having to go through difficulties.

The Bible says in Hebrews 10 not to forsake assembling together, as some have. The author is speaking about church and relationship with God, and with God's people. Why go to church only on Sunday? If church for you is simply a ritual, repent! That's not what God desires church to be!

Because it is SUNDAY and Sunday is a hoLy day. dear, its our time to give praise to our God and thank him for the bLessings we had received over the week and for everything. You know, he is just asking us to spend an hour(for Catholic) with him---can't we not give it to him?

Being of my faith, this is not a good question for me to get started on, so I will try to make it short and sweet. I do not regularly attend church, I do not feel it is necessary for anything to be accomplished in my faith. So WHY do people attend church? In my opinion, and this is how I have always looked at it, They go to church on Sunday so they can get forgiveness for their sins... Not only that but if they are forgiven on Sunday, they are able to go out and sin again all week long.

Going to church on Sunday was a change by the Pope of the Catholic church. The catholic church went along with changing the Sabbath day from a Saturday to a Sunday, therefore changing the laws and times of God. This is according to the Seventh Day Adventists and they may be right. For a lot of christian denominations, they keep with Sunday for Sabbath just because they don't want to be in direct conflict with the Catholic Church. It could cause a holy war of sorts. So to make Sunday acceptable, pastors have taken the fourth commandment to suit today by saying that any day can be the 7th day and as long as it is kept holy by worshiping God on that day. Problem is, the Bible says nothing about worshiping God only on the Sabbath. God says that Sabbath is to be kept holy but NOT WORKING ON IT. It is a day of rest. Many believe that keeping the sabbath holy means it is going to church to worship. I don't believe that. I believe God wants us to worship him everyday such as the 1st commandment says, "Thou shalt have not other gods before me." Meaning nothing (job, money, children, spouse, family, house, home, cars, etc) is to be more important than God. That's just my interpretation. I don't need (key word 'need') to go to church every Sunday. I know that corporate worship with other believers is beneficial and I love doing so. The bible even says that you should have fellowship with other believers. Church serves that purpose as well. Yes, I do remember that I am nothing without Jesus. That it is He who makes life worth living. But I do this on a daily basis. Not just on the corporate worship day.

I am a Hindu, so I will answer your question in respect of going to temple. In my religion there is no compulsion for going to temple. In my family, I do not go to the temple regularly. My younger son also does not visit the temple regularly. But his wife goes to temple daily. My wife also go to temple but not daily. My elder son goes to temple daily. But his wife does not go every day. We have a small temple in out house. All of us do puja (Prayers) daily.

We go to church every sunday to receive and share the blessing of our Lord GOD and the hear the good news and salvation. This is the only day in the week that GOD ask us to spend with him. So we respect that commandment and make it to the point to attend mass every sunday.

Church (for christians which i am not) is supposed to be in the heart not in the building. It says in the Bible that church is two or more people gathered in his name not a church. so you dont have to go to church to be in church its not about what goes on in that building its what goes on in your heart. So if you hate church than remember you dont have to go to be with GOD.
