Past murder in the family and current jury duty

Over twenty years ago my sister was brought into the hospital with brain damage and bruises on various parts of her body. She died about a week afterwards and my brother-in-law was tried and convicted for murder and domestic abuse. Recently I had jury duty that involved an ex-husband shooting his ex-spouse's boyfriend. Here potential jury members are required to fill out a questionnaire to indicate anything that may influence your ability to be impartial. After twenty years, it is no big deal to me. In fact she is one of several dead people I know who visit regularly in my dreams. We never talk about it but go about our dream-business - it's like they never really left. So for those inclined to answer - was there a close relative murdered due to domestic abuse and do you think you can be impartial on a jury trial involving similar circumstances?

I am sorry to hear about your sister.I haven't had anyone suffer from abuse in my family and yet I know I wouldn't be impartial during a trial. I was taught that if anyone hit me, I had the right to kill him. So if a guy or gal was up for spousal abuse, I would assume they were guilty.

thank God that this never happened to me or to any member of the family. my mommy was a battered wife and i know how it feels like to lose someone because of domestic abuse because we were close to losing my mom but God saved us throught he help of my auntie and Gabriella , a women's organization. if ever i would be in a jury with a case like this i think i can be very impartial and would definitely put the guy in jail for life.
