Do you plan out your meals that you are going to cook? How far in advance do you plan out? We usally go grocrey shopping every two weeks, so we will write out 2 weeks worth of meals and then do our shopping off the list. I once knew someone who had a calander and everyday would write down what they were having that day for dinner. what we do is similar but we just have a list of dinner ideas, not a meal on a certain day

I try to do that, but with my new working schedule, it's kind of hard since I work mostly nights. I love to cook though, so I love to plan it out.

We buy fresh vegetables twice a week and groceries are purchased once a month and most of the time, all the ingredients are available. Since my wife is housewife and a good cook, she plans preparations on the very day and I do not think she writes down the plan. The plan is for the day. Sometimes, guests mostly relatives arrive and the plan changes and there will be two or 3 more dishes including a sweet dish to mark respect for the visitors.

I wish I had the foresight to plan my meals for 2 weeks at a time. The problem is that I can't think of that many different meals in one sitting. My boyfriend and I will do a major grocery shopping trip about once every two weeks. Then we just kinda work with the staples that we bought and then pick up a few things we might find we need while we are on the way home from work or something. Since we eat a lot of fresh veggies, I also don't buy too many of those on our big shopping trips. This helps keep things interesting because if something looks particularly good at the store one day, I can just add that to our plans and create a bit more variety. I like your idea though and like the idea that things might be a bit more easy if I really plan a bunch of meals that I have the ingredients on hand for. This way when I get home, I know exactly what we have to choose from for dinner.

thatnks it is hard sometimes to have to figure out 2 weeks at a time but it saves on the bill at the grocrey store =)

We usually shop once a week. I take stock of what we have in the freezer and pantry. Make a menu for the week and then write out the grocery list for that week. I like having it all planned out. Then there is one less thing to stress over every day.
