I really enjoy the high tea I have at this little shop in my town. It is run by a Scottish lady, So I am not sure if it is like a traditional English High Tea. Does anybody know what and how traditional English High tea is servered?

Traditional high tea is fish and chips and tea and is normally served between lunch and dinner and would give an oppurtunity for a chat in the afternoon. It is still served in the tea-rooms in the city I live in, Glasgow and is normally set at a standard price of £3.95 or something similar. The strange thing is that you said that the woman is Scottish so you think it might be a traditional english thing. You are right though, it was started by the English. Iw as actually just looking it up on the net and it was traditionally cucumber sandwichs, scones and the like that was served and the reason why it is called high tea is in reference to tables that would be sat at. Keep getting your high tea and I'm glad you enjoy it. Everyone needs a little break in the afternoon.
