Babies and Okra!

I know, very random combonation. But my niece, who is 9 months old now, had her first piece of okra tonight. Actually, she reached up and stole it off of her moms dinner plate! Thank goodness it was stewed with tomatoes and corn, so it was nice ad squishy for her! But really now... Has anyone given a tiny kid like that okra? Does anyone here even like it? I know it's one of those foods either you love or hate, there's not much in between with okra, but is it okay to give to little kids? I've never heard of someone allergic to okra, has anyone else? She seemed to enjoy it immensely, so we let her have a few more bites of it, and she seems fine still. Just thinking...
