Host of The View doesn't know if the world is flat or not!

I don't know if any of you have heard or seen about this. But one of the hosts of The View openly admitted to not knowing if the world was flat or round and cited that it really wasn't important to her as she is too busy thinking about putting food on her family's table.
My brain just backfired upon hearing such an ignorant statement. This woman went on to say that because the Bible said so, then the Earth must be flat. Whoopi Goldberg went on to suggest that when the Bible was written they didn't know for a fact whether the world was round or flat so they went on their knowledge and assumptions at the time.
This host also made herself look even stupider by saying if her son ever asked if the Earth was round that they would go to the library and find out together but she still believed it was flat.
I'm not sure what makes this woman dumber, the fact that she is a millionaire and thus doesn't have to 'worry' about food on her table of the fact that she thinks learning whether the Earth is flat or round is some doctorate level education.
Come on, preschoolers walk into a room and see a globe, ask what it is and we say The Earth. There you go, it is round and it didn't take any previous learning to figure it out.
On top of this whole mess I can only wonder what kind of racial reprocussions this will have since the host who doesn't know about the Earth's shape is black and I'm sure someone like Al Sharpton will decide that the American education system is letting down black students if this 40 something woman doesn't know basic science.
Any thoughts?

Ah ... Sherri Shepherd ... who turned around the very next day and said she knew all along it was round. Her co-host defended her blonde moment. I don't think it will have any racial reprecussions, and I don't think it should. However I DO think a person shouldn't have to think about whether the Earth is flat or not, it should just be there. I'm a mother of 5, without a cushy TV job, and you can bet I'd know the answer to that question without gumming up the "what's for dinner" train of thought.
We need to stop celebrating these idiots by giving them spots on TV shows.
Finally, if you have to rack your brain for the shape of your planet, maybe raising a child isn't such a good idea.

All very true. It is amazing how some people are functionally intelligent enough to breed and yet have nothing going on in the main control room. :)
Sometimes I think The View is made 'stupid' on purpose because then people are entertained by idiotic remarks by people like Shepherd. Kind of like the show 'Sweet Sixteen' on MTV where these overly spoiled brats get whatever they want for their birthday and act completely selfish and demanding. They think MTV is showcasing how much better they are then you, but I'm firmly convinced MTV is just doing this show knowing well that viewers have more fun making fun of these idiot brats and laughing at them.

I think that if you are on TV sharing your view on the world, which I think is what the show is about, then you are some what responsible for what comes out of your mouth. I quit watching the View when they brought on Rosie who I cant stand at all.

Hold on to your hat, there are many people that don't believe in evolution. And many more that don't know what evolution is.And it doesn't matter what color they are. It's just that math and science isn't viewed as important to people these days. I saw the shopw and thought that it was great that she was being honest about her beliefs. These days a savvy host would just agree with the crowd and still believe the world was flat and that there wasn't an evolution in private. It is sad that we don't regard math and science as important things that everyone should know , but we don't.And these days with the schools systems just teaching to the test, we will have less kids that will want to be scientists and mathematicians.

I have watched the view for way to many years off and on. I would have to say that this group right now is the best yet! I like the vibe of the show now. I think Whoopi is what brings the stability to the show. Sheri is just a delight. I do wonder about her flat earth comment but maybe she was just trying to be funny. I didn't see it. I am so glad Meredith is gone. She is a terrific person but I just could not stand her on the view. I really felt she was so fake it drove me nuts. Star Jones pride and arrogance was out of control. I am glad to see the new Star. I can't get her show where I live. Yup I like this group just fine! Does anyone think Elizabeth will get offered a job in politics somewhere or something else to do with politics? It seems she is not really fitting in with the view anymore! Her passion and knowledge seems to be in politics; what is your opinion?

Well its stupid even if you got the wrong person who said it. Just another reason to take some of these self absorbed and deluded boobs off of the center of attention. It is sad how some people really don't know basic things and I'm not just talking about science, I'm talking more about homeland civics. Plenty of people don't know who's running their country (usually statesiders but I've seen some non-stellar citizens from other countries). It provokes some thought, but I'm not wasting too many brain cells on the view.

I think way too much was made of what she said, and not enough about the context in which she said it. There were a million questions being fired back and forth, rapidly, and Sherri just finally said that she had more important things to worry about. We, as Christians, trust in God for the big things like keeping the universe in place, and we also trust in Him for the little day to day things...but we have to do SOME of that for ourselves. And if we're concentrating on those things, we don't necessarily sit around thinking about whether the earth is round or flat........but yes, I've seen the earth pics from space, so I KNOW it's round! LOL
