Burma: How will the crisis end?

The United Nations special envoy to Burma, Ibrahim Gambari, is making another attempt to meet the military regime's top generals. He is hoping to end a crackdown on anti-government protesters. In the former capital, Rangoon, about 3,000 Buddhist monks have been detained. Heavily-armed troops and police remain on the streets to prevent new protests. How should the international community react? Are you in Burma? Have you witnessed the protests? What will Mr Gambari's visit achieve?

It is very sorry situation and things are becoming really worse as each day is passing. The people should wake up and instead of becoming silent spectators should take the law in their own hands. Of course there will be a lot of blood shed and lots of lives would be lost but as of now what is happening. Still people are being killed. I don't think that UN envoys are able to solve anything except building a public opinion. The whole world is just witnessing the whole crisis but a great shame that no one is reacting. God bless Burma.

Myanmar is very near my country Singapore. It's sad to hear about the things that have been happening there. It really makes me appreciate the peace i enjoy in my country more. I hope the UN will be able to help to restore peace there. However, I think it's going to be very difficult. From this incident, we can tell that the militants in Myanmar do not respect democracy. I really hope for miracles to happen for this nation.
