How would you feel if someone responded to a topic to only correct your grammer?

Sometimes its late and we are tired and the fingers seems to go faster than the mind and we(I)miss letters and forget the correct spelling, ooops a misspelled word appears, not my fault!lol. How would it make you feel and what would you do?Would you just ignore them from there on?I was in the top of my class in school and won alot of spelling bees,so give me a break, lol.Do you feel the same as me and find it insulting too?

Hi Peanutjar, I have experienced this, and I really found that the person doing it was just disagreeing with me anyway and trying to make me look stupid, in which case they failed to do so. It is annoying, but going along with them is childish and what good is it going to do anyway? Let them have the last word correcting you, obviously myLot hired them on as the "Grammer Police", we just dont know about it. lol We also have "The Right to Post Police" as well. Did you hear about that? Have a good night! Bay xx

yep,i think its to make us look stupid and poking fun at.I jsut laugh and figure that they have nothing else to do and are miserable with themselves at the moment.Thats another thing, have you ever wondered if there are people here working for them?Ive thought about this alot.Im sure there are some.:):)

I would never give any comment on someone's spelling, unless I really could not understand what the person was saying. Lots of people here are from other countries and they don't speak good English. Or it is indeed late and typo's are easily made. As long as one can understand what is said, I see no problem

I always check my spelling and grammar before I post, but I still mess up sometimes. If that is the only reason they responded to my discussion, then yes, I would be quite annoyed.

Thank you!!! I just got a nasty response from someone who told me that I needed to learn how to spell the word ouija!! I responded back telling her that it was agaist mylot rules to do this. THe funniest part was she had misspelled the word little. HAHA. I don't take offense to it, it is juvenile. There are many people from different countries on here so we should expect mistakes. Also this is just a post not english class. Nice topic :)

Hi!I went to have a lookie to see who it was and i was insulted and it wasnt even my topic, lol. Its not hard to tell who they are,its always the same ones who think they are perfect spellers and just cant seem to withdraw from giving a comment on a certain word.If i want help,i will ask for it,thats how i feel about the whole thing, lol.Grrr,my feathers is starting to ruffle again,ha,ha.;);)It just seems too smart eleck of them, dont you think?I think i will read my dictionary today and look out the long words i will find to post!Ha,ha,lol.:)

I would never say anything if there are spelling errors in a discussion. Could just be a typo, hit the wrong key, or tired, I have done it also. Some people you can tell English is a second language. It doesn't bother me at all. As long as I get the main idea of what a person is saying then I can respond to a discussion. I wouldn't bother to point out the grammar because I'd hav 3 fingers pointin' right bac at me self. LOL

Yes im the same way,as long as i understand what they are talking about then i will respond.But to see one word in a topic and just to respond to say the right way of spelling it,then my fur starts to puff out,lol.Grammar is grammar(someone;everyone almost all told me the correct way of spelling it anyway after i made another typing mistake,lol,ha,ha,ha,NOT):{

There are lots of us here whose native tongue is not English. Even English speaking myLotters make mistakes and typos. The myLot guidelines say that one shouldn't "criticize members for their bad/broken English or bad spelling". English Language proficiency is not a criteria to be a myLotter. If it bugs you, you can give them a negative marking (guideline violation).

For sure I wouldn't care because It do happens to me from time to time, and the grammar? we should all understnad that not everyone here has english as thier first language like us so I think it would be rude to comment on discussions we posted just to correct our grammar. As long as we get what thet want to say..it's ok for me.

Holy im getting ragged out for the "grammer=grammar"thing tonight, lol.Your right and thats one reason why i mispelled grammar in the first place."grammer"is french and where i live it is a french speaking place and become mixed up some times trying not to type in french.Usually im always thinking of words in english and translating them to french all the time, lol.Im just about to bust a fuse quite soon from all the mind juggling,ha,ha.:)

Hi peanutjar, If the only reason the person is responding is to correct your spelling mistake, grammar, etc then yes I would be annoyed, and insulted too. Their are a lot of people on this site from other countries that don't speak english, but still they try and I really commend them for that. Also a typo is a typo and even if a person that speaks perfect english makes a mistake, big deal, nones perfect, we all make mistakes as we're only human! Its not an insult to me. I take pride in my grammer, and would appreciate anyone correcting a mistake. Its unfortunate when my fingers go faster than my mind, but these things do happen. I feel sad for anyone who is insulted over a misspelled word. Seems to me, life is way too short to be so narrow-minded. If anyone responds Just to correct my grammer, this is Great! One way to get a response isn't it?

True. Grammar is spelled grammar, not grammer by the way. There are no alternative spellings either. Glad you don't mind the correction!

Just what I said only worded differently! Plus a good point you added, its a response isnt it? Bay xx

Hi peanutjar.. Maybe it would be okay for me if they are going to correct my grammar. In fact, I am not really well versed in english, though I know how to interpret my ideas using english language. It is just okay because I know english is my second language and I am not against on correcting me. Have a blessed day to you!

wow peanutjar, someone actually corrected your grammer? Oops, grammer must be spelled wrong, I got the under line thingy..lol I too did very well in English, but sometimes we get in a hurry and miss something, it is not like we are being graded or anything and as long as the people know what you are talking about, they should let it go.. Not to point anyone out, but some here are foreigners and their grammer/spelling is something that I have just gotten accustomed and I don't worry about it..

If that is an official work or the spelling does matter then of course i would be embarrass but if its just a forum or a normal chat, then i would ask him if he is conducting a grammar class. i don't feel insulted or offended but i do think the person who think he is some kinda internet english guru should got a brain the size of a tomato seed

Misspelled words happen to some of my discussions here and so far I haven’t read any response trying to correct my spelling hehe… Well it’s due to typing faster and my fingers get tired and also sometimes by not reviewing it after or due to bad keyboard hehe…
