Do You Ever Eat Left Over Dinner Meals For Breakfast?

Well, of course, my college girl will eat cold pizza for breakfast. Ickky! And I occasionally will eat the left over vegetable soup early in the morning. Makes my tummy feel warm. Back home in Indonesia (mom and dad's home at least) they made a whole new tradition of eating nasi goreng for breakfast. I believe, nasi goreng (which is now a dinner dish) was created from left-over rice, bacon (or pork salt) and eggs were then fried together with the rice to have that breakfast flavor. In any case that's what I heard. Anybody else have suggestions for a dinner-breakfast meal?

Anything I eat for dinner I'd be delighted to have for dinner. Recently I particularly enjoyed having a chicken casserole my mother in law had made for breakfast the next morning. Actually I like that particular dish any time of day or night! It's chicken and stuffing mix and veggies and soup... yum! I also enjoy breakfast for dinner. It's easy and fun... and so often in the mornings we are too rushed to cook a full breakfast. And my son's school does breakfast for lunch sometimes and it is his favorite lunch to have there. Basically, I guess, food is food. It's all good.

Yeah, maybe not sushi for breakfast. :) Casseroles sound very "grown up", don't they? But they are generally pretty easy to do, and I like to mix my food up anyway so it's good.

That does sound very good. I've never actually thought of putting those ingredients together. Actually I've never made a casserole. Now's a good time to learn about casseroles, I guess. And you're right, probably most things for dinner would serve well for breakfast. There are a few exceptions though. Anyway have a wonderful Tuesday.

Yeah, Sushi for breakfast would count as one of those exceptions. Although, I guess if I was stuck out in the wild somewhere, running away from bad guys, I would eat raw fish in the morning. Can't give my location away with a fire. LOL. Okay, sorry, too much television last night.

I remember the days of left over pizza for breakfast, I still thinks it is a good breakfast! I also fry leftover potatoes and reheat leftover steak to have with eggs for breakfast sometimes and I like meatloaf cold on toast. I am a little twisted though.

Mmm, I think the meatloaf on toast sound pretty good. But I would heat it up or mash it up in a frying pan with gooey, runny eggs dripping all over it. LOL. Steak is always a good breakfast dish and I really don't mind eating it cold. Have a great and wonderful Tuesday.

Uww, Tacos for breakfast? Doesn't the shell get a little stale? Or maybe soft tacos. That would be okay. And I'm not sure if all our Indonesian dishes would be good for breakfast. Most of them are pretty darn spicy. Ugh!

I love having left overs for breakfast. I'm 22, so pizza is a definite favourite. Also certain rices or pasta dishes made the night, or two, before. I've also had leftover take out from chinese to basically anything. I'm vegetarian though, so obviously only the veggie stuff. lol

I'd be interested to find out more of those veggie dishes. I have a few friends who aren't meat lovers. They're pretty healthy for the most part. And yep, I guess Pizza wins out to be the favorite dinner for breakfast. It's got to be a little hard on the digestive system, I would think.

well I'm not a college girl, but like your College Girl I will also eat cold pizza for breakfast. Pizza is the only dinner that I will eat for breakfast...unless I had breakfast for dinner. I guess you really could eat steak for breakfast. Cook it with Eggs and voila, steak and eggs. In reality you could probably eat anything you had for dinner for breakfast... it just depends on whether that's what you want to eat in the morning or not!

I guess cold pizza is the standard dinner for breakfast deal. And, now that a few of us have mentioned steak . . . that might actually be one of my favorite dinner for breakfast meals. I wonder how good it is on the stomach though.

I dont have any suggestions besides pizza.... thats the best meal.... breakfast lunch or dinner. However in my country we often eat the leftovers from the previous night for breakfast the next day. We jus add an egg or two, and its a good wholesome meal. However we always eat it hot...

It's a topsy-turfy world, I say. I think we should switch meals once in a while. It's gotta be all good. Breakfast for dinner, dinner for lunch, lunch for breakfast etc. I'm a little confused, or at least my stomach is. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

Yes, sometimes I eat the left over dinner meals for next day's breakfast. But usually I have steamed bread and milk for breakfast, sometimes I have some noodles or porridge for breakfast, also I might have some dumplings or oatmeal, etc.

OH, steamed bread sounds interesting. I'm not sure I know what that is--fresh baked bread? And I've never really known what porridge is. I thought it was just oatmeal. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Q: "fresh baked bread? Answer: it is fresh steamed bread made of flour and some soda. Q: "And I've never really known what porridge is. I thought it was just oatmeal." Answer: porridge is cooked with rice by putting certain amount of water till it is ready to eat. Have a wonderful week as well.

I think we have something like that, we call it Rottikoekoes. It first looks like a cake batter, right? Then we put it in one of those old-fashioned rice cookers that has two sections, the bottom pan for water and the top part has tiny holes on the bottom. We line the top with alluminum foil and pour the batter in. The lid is kind of wrapped in a dish towel and then it's all steamed. Mmmmmm. Anyway, that's what I'm thinking. Thanks for the update and the porridge info too. We're halfway through another week, have a good one.

I actually eat leftover piza for breakfast sometimes. I put it into the microwave for a minute first though. My boyfriend actually eats dinner meals for his breakfast often as he works a night shift. He gets up at 7.30 in the evening and i make him whatever i'm having for my dinner. So today he ate fish and chips for his breakfast!

Uw, that night shift is tough. You might have to explain exactly what fish and chips are. Is it actually fries (but different) and fish? I remember my Aussie days when we had fish and chips. What kind of fish was it again?

Yes its fries, they're just thivker than normal. And the fish we had was cod i think, fried in batter. Not too healthy but very tasty!

I actually have a bread machine like the one you're talking about. It's still in its box. Haven't opened it yet. Now would be a good time.I heard it's really simple to bake bread that way. Thanks again. Have a wonderful Monday afternoon.

at home, i got this real good bread baking machine that allows you to simply drop in the mix, add water and olive oil, and set the time that it has to be finished. but i agree that it is kind of a lot of efford, though...

Yes, I always eat left over dinner meals for breakfast. You're right about nasi goreng. Back in Indo, when we had left over rice, Mom sometimes cooked nasi goreng he he he he... Now I live in Finland, I cook on my own. Since there are only two of us, I usually cook enough for 2 or sometimes 3 days. We don't want to waste food, so naturally I always eat left over dinner meals, whatever it is: lasagna, pizza, soup, chicken and rice, etc. Basically I can eat anything for breakfast. When it's cold outside and I'm craving for something hot, sometimes I make instant noodles with frozen veggies and egg he he he...I miss porridge, though. Eating porridge and cakue plus bits of chicken is THE BEST. ;-D

Gosh, we used to do all that travelling too. From Indonesia, to New Guinea, to Holland, to Australia and then the US. It's such a culture shock and you get to eat so many different kinds of food. How's the food in Finland? Yes, I love instant noodles too. I usually add green onions and veggies. I've never tried adding an egg though. Is it separate or into the noodles? Interesting. Thanks for your input.

Yeah, I can imagine since your Dad's a missionary he he he...The food in Finland's fine, just not as spicy as Asian food, obviously he he...but I LOVE reindeer meat! ;-D Yes, I also experienced culture shock. The first two months felt SO weird he he he...gladly now I'm getting used to this place. ;-D Well, you can cook the egg separately first then add it to the noodles if you want or you can just mix it up with everything. I usually add it with everything 'coz it's more practical that way. ;-D

A lady I used to work with made a casserole that had hashbrowns, sausage, and cheese, along with whatever veggies you wanted (such as onions, olives, bell peppers, etc). She made this for dinner and it was really good. I think it would also be pretty good reheated for breakfast in the morning.

That sounds like something my mom makes accept she uses potato wedges. It's fast and easy. She takes it on the road with her. Personally I don't do bell peppers unless they're the yellow or the orange kind. Those are nice and sweet. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday.

Yeah, that's what I think too. If you throw away left-overs that is just taking your money and trashing it. So true. I especially love taking food home from restaurants even if it's just our leftover french fries. It's not cheap eating out so we take it home. Thanks for your input. Have a gread Monday.

Hi gtargirl! I eat left over dinner meals because we don't have sufficient money to spend. Here in Africa, I have seen situation where people eat food of 2 days (I had such experience myself when I was a child). Thanks

I sure hope and pray that life has gotten easier for you. I can see why you have learned not to waste any food. We are aware of the situation in most parts of Africa and pray daily. I have a few friends in Kenya who help a lot of orphans in local villages. They should be back soon in the US.In any case, much happiness to you, my friend.

Yes we do eat left over dinner meals for breakfast. We just have it thawed and reheated specially if we are running out of time. They are always delicious and it is better to eat them that to keep them frozen for a longer period of time.

Yes, I agree. It's such an easy way to have breakfast especially when we're in a hurry. Leftovers should probably be eaten the next day. After that, who knows? I wouldn't recommend freezing it. At least, that's my opinion. Thanks for your input. Have a great Monday afternoon.

eating leftover foods that comes from a recent meal is no problem to me. i all eat good food and there is nothing wrong with leftover so long as you kept them away from harmful elements like rat, cockroach or even ants. this is by refrigerating it. when you are about to it then you warm it either in a toaster or in ma microwave. again, you can eat them.

Yes, i eat left over foods not only from dinner but all that is left even the day before as long as it is not spoiled yet. I just reheat it. I don't throw foods just like that. Life here is so hard that you can not even think of wasting even a single cent. So everything that you can save you must. In order to survive and save for the future.

Yes, I know exactly what you are going through. Only a year ago, my kids and I were homeless. My Dad's church let us stay in the church for 3 months. We didn't waste any food, not one scrap. I hope life for you will get better soon.
