After years of fighting Fibromyalgia doc thinks I have Multiple Sclerosis

I may have been misdiagnosed apparently, now that the muscle weakness is worse than the pain - I have to go in for an MRI and possible a spinal tap to see for sure. Has this happened to anyone else? I've also had tremors, but I was told that wasn't actually a symptom of MS. It's all sort of confusing and I've gone through so much testing it's exhausting in itself. I've gone through a lupus diagnosis (turned out to be a reaction to the medicine I was on) then fibromyalgia and now maybe this... what gives? do other people with ms have this much trouble with misdiagnoses?

I have fibromyalgia and MS as well as a host of other health issues. Tremors is a symptom of MS, not sure who told you that but they were wrong. It is very common. Fibromyalgia is hard to diagnose as there is no test to confirm it, it's just a bunch of symptoms combined together. Your best best is to read as much as you can by "real" web sites...webmd is good as well as the national ms society site. Good luck. Renee

The thing about fibromyalgia is that it's not really something they can test for and say for sure you have. It's just a bunch of symptoms that are differ from person to person. It's basically the doctor saying "Yes something is wrong we just don't know what". So now that they think you've got MS - they can pin point what really is causing all your problems. You mentioned tremors - have you been tested for Parkinson's?

I haven't actually had a misdiagnosis. I was tested for all of those things plus a few others, before the final diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. It took quite a long time for them to rule every thing out. I cannot even imagine getting used to having one thing and the doctor saying "nope, it is this" instead. I also have some tremors. I hope that your mind is put at ease soon.
