Annoying phone call

Have you tried being called for a number of times then the caller would turn off the phone whenever you will answer? That's what I experienced with this number 1-888-768-7346. It's so darn annoying.
I didn't know where did they get my number, at first I was ignoring the call as I know that its a toll free number. But then they kept on calling, like every 30 minutes. SO finally I answered but then the minute I answered the phone, the caller hung up. That's SO RUDE. So I gave the number a call, the line is busy. Then after 30 minutes they called back again and then when I answered, they hung up again.
So I was furious and dialed their number again, this time I was able to connect. I told them to take off my number on their list and stop calling me as it is SO ANNOYING and disturbing. The person who answered just said "OK" then hung up the phone.
Is there any office where I can report that kind of marketing call (or however you call that) here in the States?

Well what is the number for? A store? A person? No this has not happened to me. Maybe they dont want to be bothered. When I dont want to be bothered I will turn my phone off. So Im not disturbed.LOL Because hearing from a person I dont really care for is not much fun especially if Im in a bad mood.

Hi Erhardtg.Well, I did receive this kind of phone all the time, haha and then I will sms them by saying that if they continue I will call up the police, then effectively they stopped. Haha. However, I never encounter a toll free phone number, that's new. I mean usually toll free number used by company, so I am wondering are they that daring to risk they job like that? Maybe you can check the number and call to the company? Sorry if I failed to help

Actually that's their job, to call any possible customers. The only catch is that, maybe there's something wrong with their system as whenever I would answer their call, the line is cut right away.
But it was too much to handle and pissed me off so I give them a couple of yell and thank God they stopped. I would never want to yell but after calling them and telling that I want my number to be taken out of their list, after a few minutes they call me back again. It was way out of my limit.

yes even i have received many annoying calls like this eariler,after that i kept a caller id ,when that call came again ,i just took the phone and fired,after that its been a peaceful life for me

Yes, I have faced this many times. Sometime the phone would ring and I would rush and pick it up only to hear a whizzing sound at the other end. You can clearly make out that somebody is at the other end but that person just refuses to answer. A few seconds after I bang down the phone, it starts ringing again and the same thing happens. Most of the time, these are prank calls but sometimes the lines don’t work properly and though the other person is answering, you cant actually hear him/her. It happened once between my mom and me and let to a lot of unnecessary misunderstanding.

Mine was not a prank call, its a telemarketer..their number was displayed on the screen. They are just so impolite though because whenever I would answer the phone, they would hang up. I knew that they hung it up because the seconds of the call time just stop.
But it was already solved, I called them and told them that if they don't stop ringing me, I'll report them; they already stopped.
I had an experience like you, during my conversation with my mom in law but that was a different story though..I could excuse that because long distance calls cannot connect sometimes.
