My daughter is almost a year old and my 5 year old was due for a check-up, so we figured take her in too. She did so good. Cried when the dentist touched her top gums, but that was because she had a tooth that was ready to pop and it must have hurt. My five year old had her first xrays taken and did just great. No cavities!! What do you remember of your child's first dentist appointment?

My older son who is 7 now was taken to the dentist when he was 4. I needed to go to the dentist and I thought I'd take him along and have the dentist give him a prep talk on how to take care of his teeth. He was really good about it and asked real intelligent questions. And he really was interested to know a lot more when I had my wisdom tooth pulled out. My second is just 10.5 months now and we haven't taken him to the dentist yet.

I am ashamed to say it, but my duaghter is 13 and just had her first dental appointment. We have gone so long without dental insurance, we finally have it now and she did fantastic! She had 4 very small cavities, and the dentist says her teeth are all perfectly straight and there were no problems other than the small cavities. I have always been paranoid about her teeth and gums, so I always made sure she brushed, I used to floss her teeth and I would do light cleanings on them. (I used to be a hygiene assistant for a short time). So, I guess that helped a lot! Thank goodness! Next is my turn, I know my teeth are in bad shape. No matter how well I ahve taken care of them, I know that I am going to be spending a pretty penny in the next few months. That is fantastic that your child did so well at her first exam! That's fantastic!
