Even after the Supreme Court ruling that said some forms of "extreme interrogation" amounted to torture and were NOT to be permitted; the attorney General's office came out with SECRET rulings which countermanded the Supreme Court rulings.
This happened, not once; but, repeatedly.

And, it is a very LONG story.
The result is that the Justice Department was constantly undermining the authority of the Supreme Court; every time the Supreme Court made a decision that President Bush disagreed with.
The result was that our interrogators never really knew what the limits on interrogation were from one day to the next; because, the limits were constantly changing.
The result was that a few of the detainees, the ones who were later released because they they had nothing to do with terrorism, were TORTURED.
The result was that accusations by other countries that the US was torturing detainees were CORRECT.
What do you think about this mess?
I am very unhappy with it; but, not surprised. This is exactly the reason that I did NOT vote for Bush during the 2004 election (even though I did vote for him the first time).

I think it is disgraceful. No wonder we are losing face with the rest of the world. We are getting a reputation of becoming just like the counties we used to condemn because of their torturous methods..

Our country and President like to "talk the talk" and condemn others that do this type of thing; but, they sure don't "walk the walk".
I saw signs during Bush's first term: that, given a 2nd term, he would be "uncontrollable" (no need to play by the rules when you don't face re-election).
