Hi phyneballs. Welcome to myLot. Nope. Antivirus alone is not enough to support and protect your machine against these viruses, spywares, and other malwares on the internet. Your windows firewall should always be turned ON. Windows firewall is very important because this would also protect your machine against these viruses. It serves as a wall that blocks the entrance of these malwares. Secondly, your antivirus should be updated regularly or anytime you want at your convenience. Be sure that it is up-to-date. Having an up-to-date database would make your antivirus software more useful and beneficial. Thirdly, if you are regularly surfing the net, I suggest that you use mozilla firefox or opera as your main browser. IE is very proned to viruses and spywares. Have a nice day and God speed!

Antiviruses are not enough for protecting your machine from virusus. The virus is a bussiness. Some create new virus and spread it on the net. They also creat an antivirus for it and sell it for money. That antivirus can detect and heal only that virus and previous ones. It will detect any new coming virus. My best option is migrate to Linux. Viruses are less affected in Linux...

Hi, you need to have a complete safety and security center software to protect your computer online. A Complete safety and security center software includes, an anti virus, a firewall, a spyware protection program. And if you lucky they offer advance feature such as network protection if you are on a network, and pc insurance for your computer.

I think too, that it is advisable to have a firewall in your PC and I would recommand Zone Alarm too. (I used that before) Also, if you are using Windows OS, you should do Windows Update frequently to patch the OS.
