I had an electrical fire on my lawn this afternoon. It burnt an area aboput one foot wide and about 75 feet in length. It burnt the ground so badly there are HUGE chunks of glass in the ground from the heat turning the sand etc into glass. (see other discussion) I was looking at spending around $100 minimum for repairing this are. Digging the ground and glass up. Replacing all the lost soil from the transformation into glass. The new grass, Fertilizer etc. It won't be cheap. Well after the E;ectric Company finished the wire replacement they knocked on my door. I got a pleasant surprise. As it was an act of God & it was their equiptment that caused the damage they will repair it free of charge. It will take longer than if I did it but this is great for me. Thanks all and have a great day. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I have another discussion as to what happened to start the fire. Nice to get the damage paid for without having to file a claim with my homeowners insurance. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I feel so bad! - girl feeling bad
OMG! I feel so bad for you having to go through all of that! I hope none of your flowers or anything you have planted were harmed in that mess. The good think is that it was the Electric Company's equipment's fault and your not going to have to put out all of that money!

Now that is a very pleasant surprise both to your body and wallet. lol I was thinking..with all that glass, I wonder if someone whose into that type of craft could use it for some kind of artwork. Would be interesting. Never seen a fire so hot as to turn sandy soil into glass.
