Game shows - the pressure is different in real life!

You know when you are watching a game show and the person playing can't get the most simple answers even though you find them obvious? I was watching a show today and this guy turned around to someone in the audience sitting behind him and said, "It's harder when you're up here, you know." I love game shows and I usually find them fairly easy. I am sure, however, that if I actually got on tv, I would probably find it nerve wracking, too. Do you think that you could do as well in front of the cameras and audience as you do in your own livingroom??

I agree with you on this, as I have experienced the pressure firsthand. I love watching game shows, especially those which are trivia-related or has something to do with words. Sometimes when you watch on TV and someone doesn't get the really easy questions, you tend to wonder why they don't know the answers. But when you're right in front of the cameras already, it's a different story. I was on the Weakest Link a few years back and aside from the pressure of having to ask questions, you'd have to strategize who you're going to vote out and at the same time, keep a low profile so that the other contestants won't see you as a threat. But you also have to make sure that you're not identified as the weakest link many times or else you'll get voted out of the game. Add to that the pressure of having a "snobby and sarcastic" game show host (he was really nice in between takes though), and you'll really really be nervous and pressured.

On quiz shows like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Weakest Link...my downfall would be the music. That music gets on my nerves when I am watching on TV. It's just aggravating.

Yeah, like when they have sounds of the clock ticking or something like that... it makes you even more nervous!

Oh I am sure it is MUCH tougher being there-- then being a player on your couch or even in the audience- The pressure has got to be high- I'm sure I would mess up- I am sure I would be scared! Hopefully I would get my wits in time to win some money or the game!

I usually don't get stage fright but I've never been on national tv in front of billions of viewers.

I know I couldn't. I can barely talk in front of a small group of people at my kids birthday parties let alone in front of an audience. I completely feel for the people that go on game shows. especially the ones they have now where you have to sing the lyrics to songs. I couldn't imagine singing in front of a crowd and trying to sing the right words.

I love lyrics and songs. I used to be really good at it, but I think I am not so good at learning words to songs anymore as I get older.
