What is a good discussion?

I also could not understand what is good discussion so far. It depends upon person to person, for me quality of replies to my discussions and comments, counter-comments and sub-comments are more important to me. If number of responses are in large number but quality replies are not there, I do not rate the discussion as the good one. For me quality of replies, language, sincerity of the respondent and his/her involvement in the disucssion is more important than anything else.

i think it all depends on individual interests. lets say 8 out of 10 people are interested in a particular topic, definately it will have a better response, even though you feel that the topic is boring. if u raise a topic which you think that it's interesting, yet the crowd finds it boring, then you'll be expecting bad responses.
