Hi, I spend about £30 a week perhaps as much as £40 that's about 15-20 US Dollars. A litre of milk here is about 50p that's approximately ! US dollar. So our milk is the same price. Maybe your food cost is a little higher. all the best urban

Oh yes, that's true but we also have many disadvantages. For instance the cost of somewhere to live, a one bed flat here is £550 a week, that's approximately $1100. And if you want to buy the same flat might cost £150,000 or more. There are so many people, population density in this part of the world is about 7 times the European average that the trees are dying from lack of water, the infrastructure is collapsing under the pressure and you cannot drive down the road for traffic jams. all the best urban

It is not just food, overall cost of living is rising for all the commodities no matter it is of daily use or a luxury item. What all we earn is all used up and no money is left for enjoyment.

It's nothing. In my country (Italy) the first day of this month there were an increase of prices of primary consumer goods. You should pay 1.50 euro for 1 litre of milk. So in US dollars, you should pay more than 2 dollars!! The milk is the nutrition of a child and this price is really high. A family of 4 people need 1 litre per day, so 15 dollars per week only for milk. And the salary is not so high.. the average is 1200 euro per month. There were increase also in the price of bread, gas and electricity. Step by step it will come a day when the most people in Italy will be poor.

O ,I think that all madness with prices in Italy start when you change Lira with Euro!!Yes Italy become very expensive Country!Few years ago I made my shops in Italy, but now all become very expensive/food, clothes and shoes/.I adore Italian cloths and shoes and I will always bay it but it Became very expensive!!From Which part of Italy you are?My grandpa is from Venice!Warmest regards Silvana

I'm from Frosinone, near Rome. Your comment is right: with crossing from Lira to Euro with a change of 1936,26 Lire for 1 euro all the prices duplicated. So if before euro you buy milk with 1500 lire, now you must pay 1,50 euro: and 1,50 euro are 3000 lire!! The tradesmen took profit from the situation and the administration did nothing to stop this speculation. Now a family don't arrive at the end of the month with the salary perceived...

I think that in most countries food is becoming quite expensive. I know just for me and my daughter we do spend over $200 every couple of weeks for food. I try to buy frugally to save money, but sometimes it can't be avoided.

I sincerely feel for you. I know that it must be very hard to afford with what little you make and having such expensive prices on grocery. It is not easy is it! But thanks to your discussion, I have really thought about how lucky I am to be where I am and having the benefits that I do. I do hope that your economy improves over time.

I am well avare of this price thing in croatia. As I have told you I have lots of croatian friends (I speak croatian even thou I am macedonian) so I am absolutly shocked when we compare prices. The one friend that lives in Zagreb and me always do this price game where one finds a product and we look how much it is in the other country (in this case Croatia and australia) and 99% of the time it is more expencive in Croatia. For a family of 3 (me my husband, and my 4 year old son that lives on air because he does not eat much) we spend about $100-$150 a week. I get my milk in boxes and when it is on special for 99 cents (australian)
