I get very difficult menstrual periods. I always have. I go a good 10 days but the first 3 or 4 are the worst. It hurts so bad. How do you get relief? Any trick that works for you?

Birth Control is usually the thing that doctors suggest to you to make your periods better. I actually had a problem when I was a teenager where I would get my period and it would be really heavy and stay for about 3 weeks straight. Then I wouldn't get it for a few months and then it would come back all crazy again for a few months. So I got birth Control and it's always calmed it down. Of course this is a problem if you want to have kids... but that's usually what doctors prescribe.

I used it for a few years and it helped a bit. That was when I was a teen. I had my tubes tied over 6 years ago and don't have medical and would hate to pay out for a prescription for something I don't need. Well for kids anyways HEHE Maybe something to check out again. Thanks raychill!

I don't have insurance. I haven't had insurance in 6 years, but I have to take it to control my periods. A lot of OB/Gyn's have free samples that they can give out...I used them for about 3 years until my doctor no longer carried any samples. Now I go to planned parenthood. You can lie to them easily and get things for really cheap.

Hi Vicky, I have always had this problem too and what helps me is taking a Saridon, or Paracetamol when the pain gets too heavy. Try one of these, and hope it helps. TheFortunes

So sorry to hear when ladies have bad periods. I am forunate that it is a rare occasion when I suffer from them and I simply use 2 midol. However, my daughter's first three days are heavy and riddled with cramps, almost to the point of handicapping her. On the first day, she normally lays around all day, even during the school year. She isn't old enough for birth control yet, so for a couple of more years at least she will have to suffer through them, as Midol doesn't touch her cramps!

Yeah Midol doesn't work on me either. I never went to school during my first day or two of my period because I could barely walk. I would be shaking so hard from bad cramps. But now I don't have that luxury of just relaxing, or my brain doesn't think I can. I always feel guilty if I stop just for myself. Probably would feel better faster if I did.DUH I feel bad for your girl, it is such a hard thing for some of us girls. :( Sometimes I envy my sister who has a mild three day menstrual.

red week sucks! - I hate having my red week!! ewww! ouch!
Hello! I call it my red week! LOL! mine only last for 5 days max. It sucks! I hate it actually. It's one of those days that I i'm very moody. I'm moody in a good way as long as nobody bugs me, dare even annoy me LOL!! as much as possible I just want to lie down or not move. Mine hurst too but not badly, when it hurts badly that's the only time I take some pain reliever. If the pain is not too bad i'll just lie down, try go to sleep and it works all the time for me..*hehe* ciao! c",)
