Before, I think it was 4kids entertainment that was translating/editing One Piece for American TV. It was Terrible with them! They're the ones that changed a few names, some small storyline parts, gave characters crazy accent voices, changed the theme song and Sanji's cigarette to a lollipop. I was Thrilled to see that the new American version air last saturday [on cartoon network]! It's not the best One Piece could be, but it's A LOT better.

I'm a little happy about the switch. Most of the things I didn't catch since I got into the series late (right after chopper joined the crew) I'm a little iffy on some voices though. I like Saji's Brooklyn accent better even though most people didn't. The only voices I had a problem with was Nico Robin's the rest were fine. I'm also glad they limiting the editing on the gore and just sticking to CN standards which is expected since the FCC censors out a lot as well. But sticking to the storyline is great. But I'll have to get used to the voices though...

I'm watching the Japanese version. I'm better off with subtitles than lousy dubbing. Bonus here is that you'll learn few nihonggo terms as well and eventually learn how to understand and speak it.
