Will this series last long enough to see the boy become the man of steel? When will we ever see him don his costume? Which season will he learn to fly? With the appearance of Kara, his cousin, I hope it means he learns to fly or at least get his feet off the ground. I hope he gets to make his costume or see hints of getting a costume in this season. I also wonder, if in the later episodes or seasons, how they explain for the glasses?

There are many rumors that this will be the last season for the show. Supposedly Rosenbaum(Lex) is leaving after this season and, thus, there couldn't be much of a show without Clark's main nemsis.

Maybe he's negotiating for a higher pay? Or Lex could go for face lift or plastic surgery. Ok, let's see how it goes this season.

OMG I hope they don't cancel it.. I've already lost all my favs..Charmed and Gilmore Girls, etc..but with those shows you could see they had to end eventually, there's only so much you can do and then it gets old so to stop them at some point..even though I woulda watched faithfully forever and been happy.. you can see a reason to end them. But with Smallville, the show has an already established future and many, many many more possibilities..it could go on for 20 years.. Even if Rosenbaum left, that would suck but they could continue the show for sure without him..bring in a new Lex who had plastic surgery or some kinda accident, maybe something he can blame partially on Clark that would really give him a reason to be enemies LOL

Yes, Suze05, I also feel it can go on, though they might look older and probably should move to the Metropolis setting for an adult Clark already. This may be the season where Clark gets hired at the Daily Planet. :P

I think it will last long enough. It's getting closer all the time. Though he probably won't be doing the red cape thing, you never know..he might come up with some kind of modern adaptation for it..besides the red jacket.. I think he will fly soon, now that Kara is here to teach him how. The glasses are probably something he will do without..like the cape.. or he'll start wearing them, like the old Superman did..to hide his identity..lessen his resemblence to Superman so people won't recognize him as easily. who knows? but it will be interesting to see as time goes by how much gets kept in and how much the series changes from the original.

I wonder how they would try to 'disguise' him considering all who know him, see him without glasses. Maybe that's a pretext for them to end it all when he becomes the man of steel.

Maybe Clark could wear a mask while in his Superman costume? That could work since they wouldn't be able to see Superman's face right?

I think it could last years also, the story has really only just begun, and thier are loads of plots that can be written. BUT, did anyone watch this weeks episode, where he recieved the gift of a red cape at the end of the show. I love these little superman referrences they throw in here and there.

I dont think it will even though I would love them to continue the show since its such an amazing show that gets better every year. But I have rumors that they are stopping the show either after 7 years or 8 years. SO I dont think the show will ever become metropilis if you think about it thats pretty much lois and clark the new adventures of superman. I dont think there going to want to copy that show.

oh, i didn't think it would end up like Lois & Clark which focused more on their relationship. I guess if they do come up with the next stage after Smallville, I'd would hope that they pack in more action, villians, superheroes and personal life in both identities.

I think the red jacket and blue shirt would count as being his costume. I don't really see a modern teen going around in tight spandex and a cape unless it was in a movie part lol. In the older Superman shows, Marhta Kent made Clark a costume made from the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby, but Clark in Smallville was found when he was at least five years old. I don't remember if the thing Martha wrapped him in was red or not, in the first episode. Wasn't Clark floating above his bed in one of the first episodes when he was asleep? I think he flew during the series before, how else would he go to that place made of crystals?

True. They using the colours and symbols that we're used to seeing, just not the items like the cape, the belt, the boots. I was just wondering if he'll ever get to wear those on screen. haha so far, I don't recall the blanket either that seems to account for the impervious material. Later they say he radiates some sort of aura that protects his clothing which does away with the kryptonian materials and the 'how' they're sewn together. :P True he did the flying stuff, but seems he did not do it consciously?

I dont know if it will make it that far, if it dont I will be disappointed along with all the other Smallville fans. I dont think we will se the donning of the rad and blue anytime soon but the clothes he wears now is close enough for government work. The only thing I dont get is the whole flying thing. If you remember in the 5th season the 100th episode, that was a sad sad day in Smallville Jonathan Kent will be remembered. Clark finda flew in that episode. When he asked Lana to marry him he finda flew up to the top of the edge and crushed a rock into a diamond for Lana. But if he could do that why cant he fly fly. Kara needs to give him a quick kick in the *** and get that boy to Fly Fly like Superman.
