About TV for kids .good or bad ?

the problem with the TV or the movies for the kids depends on their parents, the reason is if you know or control what your dhild is watching today or tonight or what kind music your child is listening it won't be any problem. but most of the parents right now are teenagers or they are in their midd 20's and we can't or we don't even have any time to look after our kids... so I think the problem is from the parents not from the TV or the kids on them selves....
so please give your opinion?

it depends on what type of tv shows/movies they are watching and how you as the parent supervise/guide your children.

may be you are right. i like watching movies and serials on the TV and i watch tv alot. my five year old son also knows what time which serial comes. and waters the characters. may be it's my mistake. but one thing, when we have to enjoy our lives. by the time our children grow we would be in 40's and 50's that time we would have lost all interest. after all we also need some entertainment right.

I feel that you are right to some extent that as both parents are working in todays materialistic world it is difficult for the parents to control the children from wathcing tv. But it is not the parents who are at fault. They are both earning and keeping themselves busy for the welfare of these chidren. Children need to be responsible enough to be on their parents side and respect the things their parents are doing for them.

Tv watching at ANY age can be a good thing or a bad thing...I think whats important particularly when it comes to kids is that they KNOW the difference between reality and fantasy/fiction...My kids watch a fair amount of tv when they are home and they watch everythign from kids shows like Fairly Odd Parents to horror movies like Texas Chainsaw....they love channels like Animal Planet and whatnot and all of its good...They are well balanced, intelligent kids...BUT I've always talked to them about what they see, hear, read, watch etc etc which is IMO how it SHOULD BE....You cant stick a kid in front of the tv, let them have at it and NOT talk to them, guide them, teach them about what they see and hear etc....Its dangerous and irresponsible IMO....

i personally dpn't think that kids watching t.v is a bad idea. infact i think it's good for their development. so they arn't brought up in a plastic bubble as then in later life they will be more fragile though too much television can be bad for the eyes

Hello mari123. Television is a really bad factor for kids development. It can produce ADHD, mental problems and much more. Medics tell that kids shoudln't watch TV more than 2 hours a day.
