New cat

New cat - This is my new cat who I have named Poppy.
October 6, 2007 4:11am CST
A few weeks ago I adopted a new cat. A young black and white female who had been living in a friends greenhouse for the last three months. Since I already had three cats, I was concerned about conflict between them and this new cat however, after an initial period of growling and hissing, they are now all getting on reasonably well which is a great relief to me. So, I am now a four cat family:)

Frodo - Frodo - is he Poppy's longlost English cousin?
Awww - what a nice story with a happy ending. And what a pretty cat too - with a very pretty name:-)) I have 6 cats - they all get along very well - I think they know where they are loved and cared for, and are happy with thst! Btw - I think your Poppy must be somehow related to my Frodo in the attached photo! Their markings are very similar!

I have a bit of a soft spot for black and white cats I have to admit. With Poppy I now have three black and whites, (the fourth is a tabby and white). My previous cat, (that's her in my avatar) was also a black and white and her predecessor was also one. So there has been at least one B&W here for the last 27 years! :-)

Awww - well two of mine are black and white - Frodo, and Clarence - who is probably more black than white to be honest - just a white chest and paws. Then I have a tabby and white one, and three big gingers! All mine were rescue cats/adopted strays, so I didn't have much choice in choosing their colours - they all chose me:-))

All of my cats have either been taken in as strays or in the case of my two older cats, adopted so I've had no control over the colours which is'nt important anyway.

You are so-o-o lucky that everything worked out! My newest cat, Mimi, has been with me since late June this year and still has not adjusted! Maybe it's my other cat, Waffles, who is just as much at fault, as Waffles can sit and stare at Mimi for hours before getting up and running after her. And my Columbus ignores them both. He is so sweet and calm, as long as he is fed and treated with affection. After all, he's now 11 years old!

I have also got a new cat four years ago. I already have 6 kittens, but I have still took home one for I really like cats. Somehow, that kitty and the others get along well. Sometimes, it depends upon the cat if they like to have a new one with them or not. There are cats that seek other cats for playmates, but there are some that are snob.

Felix - Sitting on top of my monitor
Yes I agree. I'm hoping that she'll provide a playmate for my male cat. He's very friendly but my two older cats don't want to play. The photo shows him sitting on top of my computer monitor!

It's good that the cats are now all getting along, that would be my worry if I got a new cat. I already have two you see and they are both about the same age, I've had one from a kitten and one from when they were both six months old, they still fight sometimes but that's only to be expected they are cats after all. Congratulations on your new cat anyway. :)

Thanks. She's settled in just fine though the two older female cats still hiss and growl at her, (well she does temd to hide and ambush them which they don't appreceate at all)but she's fine with my male cat and they are beginning to play together which is what I'd hoped would happen.

Aw--I saw the picture of Poppy and she's adorable. I have two kitties of my own, Pyewacket a black cat, like my avatar and Kissy a Tiger-striped. The two are really pampered. Glad to hear that your other three have accepted her :)

Well... more or less. The two older cats still get hissy and growly when she's near, but that may be due to her habit of ambushing them - something which neither of them appreceate! :)

I have a two years old cat. He looks like a mini tiger when he walks. I just adore him. However he doesn't like at all when he sees any other cat roaming around the house. He just get mad.

Congradulations on your new baby. What is her name? Back in the 1990's I had a little black & white girl we called Jellibaby after the British candy and because she was a jelical cat (are black and white according to t.s. elliot.)

cat is tender. but they don't fight much as dogs. but cat is disturbing for me. they offen eat the meat i prepare for the meal. sometimes the catch the fish which is in pan. i like dog compared to cat. they are friends of human ,and it can understand the word if you don't want them to do.
