I'm fond of watching the show, "How clean is your house?" And I have to say, that in every episodes, it never fails to shock me how terribly filthy a house can get. But there are times, that I wonder, can a person really live in that kind of dwelling? I mean, literally littered with animal poo. And the house looked like as if a hurricane went inside and turned everything topsy turvy.
In my entire life, I have never seen a house that was so filthy like what are shown in that show. The worse that I've seen where a little bit messy and dirty. But I have never seen or visited a house that the owner had to live with animal poo scattered all over the house.
What about you? Have you experienced having to enter a house that's so unbelievably filthy?

I've seen some real messy houses. The topsy turvy kind. I've actually seen a house with animal poo all over too actually. It was bunny poo. it would get cleaned up after a while but they'd leave it for a while too.
yes, people can live in that kind of dwelling. I don't know how they can stand it...but they certainly can do it.

In the show, one of the hosts actually check out those poo! She will certainly get down on the floor and take one quick sniff!Ewww!!!lol!
I guess they have adjusted and gotten to a certain degree that they are comfortable living inside that kind of house. But I sure hope their immune system are strong enough to protect them from the dangerous microbes that they are living with.

I love that show!! Those two women really speak thier minds, and it IS shocking at how filthy one can become. I can get lazy myself, but goodness gracious how do you become lazy for several years!?!? I saw an episode where a man who lived alone had not cleaned in 9 YEARS!!! He had 2 dogs too, it was awful. I can only be lazy for a day or two before I just HAVE to clean it up!
I have an aquaintence...lol...she lives like this. You walk in and its just a disaster everywhere you look. Clothes, shoes, dirty pampers, food, plates, cups, utensils, its just all over!!! Im scared to sit down, if I could anyway, and there is NO WAY Im eating or drinking anything from her house. Sorry! Her car is the same way, I even seen dishes in the backseat floor board of her car once! Dirty ones lol

Oh no! 2 dogs + 9 years of not cleaning the house = I don't think I even want to see it!lol!
Like you, Bay, I won't even have the courage to use anything from that kind of house. From what I've seen in the show, they really let it be known how dangerous the person is living with the microbes! My favorite part is when they show what's inside the fridge and in the bathroom. And they take a swab sample from those places.

It never cease to shock me, too. I'm also amazed that they can sleep and eat through those animal poo and vomit scattered all throughout the house. I can't even imagine how that house smell. We had a cat once when we were kids. But my father was very diligent when it comes to cleaning up its poo. Once he sees the poo, he immediately cleans it up. And that one poo already gives a horrendous smell. How much more like those shown in tv?
I guess those people are pure lucky to have a strong immune system.

It really surprises me that these people arent ill or anything from all the germs they say are in homes like this.
When those tests come back, they have hundreds of BILLIONS of bacteria in their kitchen sinks or the towels they are using. Ugh lol I find it funny when the home owner is getting this information from the woman, the looks on their faces are a mixture of emotions!

Sorry about the way I reacted, bala. After reading your latest discussion, I've been very informed about the use of cow dung in the Indian villages.

Yes only one! went to take this lady home one day from the store and she invited me and sis in law in for a cup of coffee . there where dishes in the sink on the counter on the table just about ever where ya looked and she told us she had 8 sets of dishes and didnt do them till all were dirty then she made coffee . also she had puppies that were not house broke. we stay alwhile to be polite but we didnt touch the coffee made exuces to get away as fast as we could and never went back to that house again I went to another house she lived in abd it wasnt like that so she must have been in a down mood when we lived in this certain place.
Mostly places are so clean ya dont want to set down like my aunts and you dont feel welcome in thos places. then there is my house ya might find dust every where but then I or daughter dont dust every day for right now we have dors open and the wind in blowing outside and the sand drifts in but the rest of the house is clean . and has a homsey look . Yes I like that show and Even that ladies house didnt look any where near what the mess the show on that show

Hello again Lakota!I'm sorry if I was a bit late in answering back.
I can't help smiling with what you've shared. I keep seeing the scenes in my mind and I wanted to laugh especially when I was trying to visualize you and your sis-in-law, wanting to get as far away from that place!
And wow! She needs 8 sets of dishes so she'll have the excuse not to wash them at once. It will be a miracle if the rodents and cockroaches still haven't found her house.
Oh, and the puppies! I had a puppy once and I made sure that he didn't poop directly on the floor. I have made a special "pooping place" for him and once he used that, I immediately cleaned, and sanitized it.
Before I forget, I wouldn't drink from her cup, too. Even if the saying, what you don't know, won't kill you. Well, what I see will be enough to convince me not to touch anything!
I understand what you mean about the other houses who seems to look like museums instead of being a home. You don't know what move to make because you feel very uncomfortable.
Like yours, the dust does settle in some parts of the house. I can't clean them up all at once in one day because I've got other chores to do. But at least, we do clean our houses. And that what's important.
Because in the show, it looked as though, they have never made any attempt at all to do some cleaning. That's why it looked so horrible.

No I can't say that I have. However, we do de-clutter workshops and people have brought in pictures of unbelievably cluttered houses. One woman had papers stacked from floor to ceiling in her back entranceway. Clutter-bugs can and do live in very messy environments and can become quite desensitized to it. Sometimes most of us have had times when our homes go beyond that 'lived in look.' When people are busy, working on projects, having family challenges or have a lot on their plate things can backslide.
What David and I find is finding a place for everything and always putting it back in its home. We live with the if we are not using it...lose it idea and it really makes it much easier to keep our home clean and tidy most of the time. Even with having 2 big dogs and 5 cats as mostly indoor animals. Knowing that we are animal lovers we took all the carpet out and re-did the floors with a vinyl floor that looks like tile and laminate. They are much easier to keep clean and fresh than the carpets were and the odd time one of the animals does do their business in the house because we were away too long...we clean it, use a soap with a disinfectant and deodorizer and there is no oder.
So I think people's homes are a reflection of their attitude, sense of self...and it reveals a level of consciousness whether they want to admit that or not. One cannot change without awareness...if they are used to filth..there is no awareness that anything needs to change.
Well that is it for now..good chatting..talk to you soon my friend..we always do.

Oh my, Raia. We have something in common again!^_^ Like you, I don't keep stuffs that I know have no use anymore.I regularly check the things that we use here at home and if I'm pretty sure that it will only collect dust, then either I give it to the poor kids who collects them and sell them at junkshops or I give them to the garbage collectors and they sell them at the junkshops, too.
To be honest , when I've learned you are taking care of more than one animal and you showed me their photos, I was wondering how both you and DAvid keep up with them. You know, the shedding of furs and the little accidents they have.
Now I know. And I'm wowed with your diligence in still keeping a clean home inspite of having those adorable cats and dogs.
I completely agree with you that having a clean or filthy house can be a reflection of the person living in it. In my opinion, Raia, a person should not blame the reason that they are so busy from work that they don't have the time to clean their house.
When I got married, I was still working at the hospital. And eventhough I was so tired from work, I made sure that my house is clean enough. Not that sparkling clean, but the kind of cleanliness that is comfortable to look at.

Though I haven’t watched the show that you mentioned, I could still imagine how terrible the situation was. If for me I couldn’t even stay for a single minute in that dwelling with floor spread with nasty animal poo, worse still was the disgusting smell of them.
In real life I haven’t entered any house that is so unbelievable filthy. The worst I had experienced was the floor of every room spread with uncountable human hair which made me nearly threw out everything from my stomach yuck...

hello ikbooi. I know what you mean about the hairs. It can get nasty once they accummulate on the floor. My youngest sister is very strict in her house when it comes to hair. So when I visit her and I brush my hair, I have to make sure that I don't leave any fallen hair on the floor. Because this irritates her so much.

I love to watch that show. It's amazing how people let things get so unbelievably disgusting. It repulses you and makes you watch. I personally have never walked into a house that bad. Most people clean when they know guests are coming over. I think that people who have houses that messy probably don't entertain much. It would be way to embarrassing don't you think?

Yes, in the latest episode I've watched. This woman asked for help because she wants to start dating and can bring her date to her house. But the thing is, the man will positively run away from terror once he sees it.
The woman said she have never let anyone inside her house because she's totally embarassed. She reasoned that because she's so busy from work, she doesn't have the time to clean.
The hosts of the show were surprised so many shoes in the bathtub, and they wondered why. And the woman confessed, that she just throws her shoes in the bathtub, the ones that were vomitted on by her cat.
