Does having friends on mylot make a large difference in earnings?

I have read many posts about how people look for discussions that their friends have started.
Is this because their friends are sure to give them a positive rating or because their friends start interesting discussions?
Are earnings here on mylot dependent of politics...meaning do your friends/lack of friends cause you to earn less or more money?
What are your viewpoints about this?

yes sometime having a lot of friend does do a difference in earnings but that is not too much ..i mean if your posts are of quality you are sure to get a + from everyone...and this increases the ratings which will help u getting more ...and not the number of friends

I personally don't think it makes a difference how many friends we have here. I have over 200 but I think the most replies I have ever received is less than 50! There are also people who will give us a - for their own personal reasons. That's not saying our friends will but we get them anyway. No, I don't think politics has anything to do with mylot earnings.
