LOL I love news like this, much more amusing and not so stuffy and serious! Picking your nose is healthy says an Austrian Dr., not too mention eating them helps your body in tremendous ways naturally! I was gagging reading this at the mere thought of, firstly picking my nose, I use a tissue thank you, and then gulping it down! UGH GROSS!!! He suggets that we should "encouarge" children to pick their noses, as they are so happy doing it, and allow them to eat the boogers. Alrighty then!! To find out the medical benefits of this "natural wonder drug" click the link...... http://www.davesdaily.com/bizarrenews/pickyournose_04-04.htm If society didnt place it in the "dont list" of things to do as a human being, would you stop your child from doing it? Bay xx

My hat is off to you for finding this article before myself. It is great and the doctor could be right! Sort of on the same subject. Q: What's the difference between boogers and brocolli? A: You can't get kids to eat brocolli!

LOL Well when you go looking for trouble Laura you tend to find it! ;) I thought I would attract some honest posters, but I see no one has admitted to doing it just yet. hehe Im joking. I dont know, Im sure I would allow them to do it, just teach them that perhaps its not the best thing to do while sitting amongst your friends or family, that they should do it in a private place. lol Bay xx

I did it when I was a kid, and my son has done it for years now, he turns 8 in December, and though I tell him not to do it, he thinks its funny to do it, now I think I will just leave him alone, being that its healthy and all. lol

I know its been months since I left my orignal reply but this is the first time I have had a change to read you response to it. I am LMAO. I homeschool my kids, and I personally don't believe in orginized religion. So I guess I don't have to worry about that one. Since I wrote this, my son has stopped doing it. But I had to let you know that I loved you reply.

Hahaha too funny! Sure why not!? I think little boys find things funny like this anyway. I mean as long as hes not doing it while at the store with you, or sitting in church, or sitting in class analyzing the boogers he pulls out of there, then whats the harm!? LOL (church was just an example of where you shouldnt) I dont think I would "encourage" like the good Dr suggests, but I dont think I would stop them, as long as they are not doing it in public where many could see! I dont care how old you are, if your going to pick your nose and eat them, hehe, then do it privately! Bay xx

EWWW...that's just great. The people who drive around picking their noses with abandon are going to just love this news. Could be good for you..but, I'll pass thanks. I wouldn't encourage my kids do it, there are things that shouldn't be done in public. In the privacy of your home, bedroom etc., go nuts. But please, not out in public where I can see you.

lol Ill pass too, I just dont think that would be in my best interest to eat my boogers. I often wonder about the person next to me at a red light picking their noses. Do they think since they are alone in the car that no one is going to see them? Did they forget that they have windows to their vehicle? LOL Amazing! Bay xx

People always look like they are trying to be inconspicious when they eat them. Yuck. I knew someone like that in preschool. I dont think I could ever eat them and what would make you want to? Odd coming from someone who liked to eat glue once in awhile as a child. Until I ate suntan lotion once instead because it looked like glue. Needless to say it lost its taste.

LMAO!! We have something in commen here Kiobug! I used to eat glue too! Well it was this Elmers paste really, it came in a bottle with a screw top and a brush attached. I also used to take glue and put it on the palms of my hands or fingers, and let it dry and peel it off. I was amazed at the prints my skin left in the dried glue. lol Boy childhood was interesting. :) Im sure I ate them when I was a kid, just out of curiosity. But NEVER as an adult have I ate a booger! And I dont care how "healthy" they are supposed to be, I WONT! Bay xx

Thats funny. I also used to eat play dough. The home made kind not the store bought kind. Anyways I can honestly say that I never ate my boogers because that was gross to me even as a child. Yuck!

Wow, I never thought of this. I guess I don't have to worry now whenever my niece would suck her thumb and pick her nose, I don't have to check up on her and slap her wrist whenever I caught her doing it so!LoL But then, I would still have to worry on her thumbsucking instead!;)

Hi Raijin, I think like nose picking, the thumb sucking will fade away. Although I did attend high school with a girl who sucked her thumb until graduation day in high school. I wonder if she still does it. lol She was one of the "popular" kids too. Bay xx

They have got to be kidding us, what has this would come to when they say we can eat our boogers, yes I pick my nose and whip it on a tissue or toliet paper but if they think for one minute I am going to eat what I have seen come out of my nose, well then I guess I will be starving. LOL and god forbid if I ever caught one of my kids eating theirs when they were younger. EEEWWWW!!!!

LOL Oh my gosh, I never thought of the pill thing Hog! They seem to put everything else in a pill form, why not! lol I cant even stick my finger up my nose without a tissue on it! They say that you can get into places with your finger that you cant with a tissue, BS! I do it all the time. lol So maybe your only supposed to eat the dry ones and perhaps lay the wet ones out to dry before you eat them. You could sprinkle them over your salad like croutons! LMAO Bay xx

So what I was discouraged from doing is now being encouraged? Times have sure changed. Are you sure this was not a Halloween prank or it had been posted on April Fools Day? Is not picking your nose in the same category as sucking your thumb, something kids do and adults as well when they are nervous? And how does picking your nose and eating the contents make you healthy? It is from inside your nose and the excess that does not go to the other place.

Dr Bischinger said: "With the finger you can get to places you just can't reach with a handkerchief, keeping your nose far cleaner. "And eating the dry remains of what you pull out is a great way of strengthening the body's immune system LOL Yeah what you have been instructed to not do is being encouraged. No its not a Halloween prank, check the link I left, its still there. I do agree that your body must be exposed to things in order to build up your immune system. Thats what immunizations are and why they encourage getting your child the shots. If your body doesnt recogize that its a foreign body, it wont defend itself. STILL....I wont be eating the boogers that come from my nose! LOL

Hi Bayleigh - hats off to you for creating a light and fluffy discussion! If a bit yucky. I guess I disagree because the nose is part of the immune system and children have notoriously dirty hands!

I've seen the commercial. And I'm with you. You know, not only do doctors and researchers come up with sometimes opposing theories that each can prove - things that are 'good' or 'bad' for you come in and out of fashion. Like coffee - sometimes you need to stay far away - and sometimes researchers are preaching the benefits. Personally I don't like the test enough to have it every day anyway. Even when exhausted.

LOL Thank you!! I know have you seen those commercials where the kids whisper to other kids their "secrets"? One kid says, "I play with my boats in the toilet" lol I love that one. I dont care how good the Dr says it is for us, I just simply refuse to eat boogers! Bay xx

Your right about that Artemis, they do change their theories on a regular basis....lol Like, after all these years of people stuffing and cooking turkeys for Thanksgiving, and then suddenly DONT DO THAT! Its not letting the meat cook properly and so many people were freaking out over it. lol

I wouldn't stop children from picking their noses - but I would tell them that there's a time and place to engage in their behavior. Does anyone remember this song in elementary school? It was directed toward the kids who got caught with their fingers up their nose. Mary is doin' it, doin' it, doin' it Pickin' her nose and chewin' it chewin' chewin' it ... Oh, kids can be so cruel ...
