It's a quote. "Champagne drinker's tastes, on a beer drinker's budget" When my husband told me that about his sister & her husband, I just had to laugh. Basically it means someone living outside of their budget just to look good. Do you do that or do you get by with whatever you have & don't try to look like you're rolling in the bucks?

I've been involved in a buisiness were this kind of thing is really comon,People with very expensive cars they cann"t afford, Renting houses they cann't pay the rent on after a few weeks and spending money to impress and then not being able to even afford to pay they basic bills.Having seen so much of this for many years I could never live like it.
I've even seen people that made good money and still ended up with nothing, just from partying it away.

Exactly!! I can't imagine spending $3000 for rent, buying everything on credit cards, buying cars on payments, taking vacations and so on. $3000 for a mortgage, maybe, since you'll eventually own it but for rent is ridiculous!! We know someone that bought a vehicle that cost over $40,000 and then ended up going crazy looking for another home to rent. We live in the boonies but we own what we have, even though it's not all expensive & so on, it's ours.

hello, clamrco. This is a good saying describing a prevalent phenomenon. There are many people living outside of their budegt just to look good. Spending several months' salary on a luxuriant but not usefull coat; buying a excessively commodious house with the cost of divide payments for decades of years maybe just results from a friend owing a same one... This is not good for leading a wonderful and healthy life. Substantial things are not so important, and it is not right that the more expensive the better.
So, considering one's purchasing power before buy something is important.

I agree that alot of people only want to look good and don't realize that they're way in over their heads til they're hiding under the bed from a bill collector or repossesion company is yanking their vehicle down the road. Then these are the same ones that say "WHY ME?". No, it's not a good life. It only looks like one from the outside.
