The beauty of being broke!

I got a letter the other day, hand delivered by my ex-fiancee. Whom I might add, rather than delivering it within the ten day period, sent the letter back and got it back again before he brought it to me. From the IRS about owing them some money, I posted about that. Fortunately one of my main mentors happens to be a CPA and managing partner of a local firm. He is supposed to get it resolved for me by contacting the IRS, gathering up the information that the IRS has to back up their claim, then when it is all said and done, if I do owe them the money he can then negotiate with them starting with the premise that I am an unemployed, or self employed student right now with a negative net worth and no real property, and try to settle the debt for 5 to 10 cents per dollar if possible. That is so very much what I needed, someone to guide me through the process of dealing with the IRS. Elsewise you get gotten by them everytime. Just because they keep more complete records than do taxpayers they estimate peoples income far too high and then add penalties on top. They know that you probably do not have your copies of the records for 6 years ago. They hope to intimidate you just by who they are and roll right over you. Now, what remains to be seen is if my friend will get the lead out before or after I am crushed under the IRS's wheels! I hate having to depend on people to do things for me, but at some point we have to accept that we are all dependant in some way or another to other people. Wish me luck though!

Wow, good luck with all of that. How come when they become the ex whatever they are, you can see how irresponsible they really are? I really hope you don't get punished for his stupidity.
