I know we tend to think that we have to buy something new for a person ..as a gift.. but what is wrong with going to good-will, a thrift shop or second hand store and buying an item there to give away? I think if you don't tell someone you can wrap up a second hand gift and give it to them and they will be just as happy as if it were new.. Would you be unhappy to get a second hand gift instead of a new gift?

Hi littlefranciscan! Well, it depends I guess if it is some decorative item that is alright as long as it is not something that I should be wearing, I really don't mind. However, I would still appreciate it whatever it is because thinking about it now, the giver may be lacking in cash but just want to give something to me as a sign that I am not forgotten in any way. So, I guess, it will be alright as long as it comes from the heart. Take care and have a nice day.

I personally would not care. If it is something I wanted or needed, it would be great. I think you know the people that would be offended. I do think you would have to be careful.

Yes..must be careful.. but I feel we have become so accustomed to novelty any more.. So many things are tossed away after just a single use;)
