what's the difference between a resume and a curriculum vitae?..

..i'm planning to apply for my first job and i'm wondri'n if what would be the appropriate one to submit when applying for a job, is it a resume or a curriculum vitae?...i tried to compared them already but i noticethat there are only few difference when i compared the content of each...what's the difference anyway?

The main difference between a resume and a curriculum vitae is that a resume is short and briefing of you and your qualities, it just gives the overview of you, while a curriculum vitae is the detailed listing of your qualification, experience, abilities, goals and achievements. I think for you it would be appropriate to submit your curriculum vitae. but if you go by the dictionary they are all the same.
