Sisters across the map

I am the oldest of six siblings, 4 of us being sisters...all different, independent and willful, even though the youngest are twins. Our age gaps over 13 years, so by the time I left home @ 17, the twins were still toddlers. We are all grown now, and I would have to say, we are probably closer now than we ever were in childhood, even though we are separated by miles,(MN, WS, GA, TX). The bond of our relationship often goes unsaid, but never unfelt. We are there for each other when no one else is. Our parents are still with us, so we still can link with our roots and keep tabs on what everyone is doing; who's going HOME for the holidays or on vacation to see one of the other "kids"(Yes, Mom still calls us her kids!). The internet and e-mails has further enhanced our communication and keeping up with each other. Pictures really are worth a thousand words! So,to all you SISTERS out there...Cherish yours; hold on to that special twinge in your heart when you are able to reflect on your happy times and memories of those closest to you as children...they walked your path, learned your same virtues, and rely on you to always be there!

Well, I just found out my dad isn't my biological father and that my biological father has a bunch of kids himself so I've got a good amount of half-siblings out there who I'm only just learning about and just getting to know. So far I've only met 2 of my half sisters, we communicate through MySpace, and I already knew of another half sister who I've known since I was a baby, but we never really got along. Recently though we've been talking and getting to know each other through emails and MySpace. I've always had my two brothers who I got along very well with and I would always wish my mom would someday bring me home a sister but her "factory was shut down", as she put it, after my youngest brother was born. I certainly hope that I can have a relationship with my sisters like you have with yours. You're quite lucky and I can only hope to be so lucky someday :)

WOW! Congratulations on your newfound family, and I admire your open attitude regarding your half-sibs.Better late than never! If everyone you relate to adopts your attitude, you will succeed, it will just take some time...hopefully, any jealousy or animosity will fade and all will reach out and accept the circumstances that got you all where you are today and embrace the positive aspects of having an extended family.
