Terrorist threat to overtake our schools.

The terrorists try to hit us where it hurts the most. The hit the financial heart of the United States to hurt the Americans the worst. When that didnt cripple us they came up with a new plan. They are planning to target our schools. If money isnt what kills us they will hurt our children. They have made some scary threats about what they could do to our kids which I wont go into. This is what could hurt me. I love my kids more than anything. What can we do to protect our kids? How do you feel about this threat?

This is exactly the reason why we have to fight the terrorists on their ground instead of here in the US. We are killing them in Iraq and Afghanistan instead of them attacking us here. Sure we have some splinter groups here, but so far we have been lucky. We are going to be facing the terrorist threat for many years to come, just as we have already faced it for many years before 9-11. 9-11 made it real for everyone because most people did not take the threat seriously, because it was not our problem. It wasn't until we got hit at home that we realized it was our problem after all and we had to fight against the threat. We are winning, but there are certain people who would have you think we are losing, and they want us to stop fighting. These people own defeat, and care nothing about the safety of Americans or our children at school. Their only interest is political power, and they don't care who gets hurt along the way.

Destiny, I'd love to think that you're right and that '9-11 made it real' for everyone. If only it were so. Considering the the ridiculous number of people who have suscribed to the theory that '9-11 was an inside job', or those who think President Bush is the greatest threat to the world, I'm afraid many of us haven't learned anything at all. The terrorists don't scare me; those who can't or won't recognize them, do.

Yes, these people who fail to recognize the threat are a problem, and they are the ones who will ensure that we are attacked again.

I agree. Fighting them on their own land is the best option. I like that we are stopping it before it makes it over here. 9-11 made it very real for me. I did feel very safe here and now I realise that we are all the same, and we need to take it seriously no matter whos land we are on.

Being a mom of course this strikes fear in my heart but also anger and I pray nothing happens to any of our children however if it does it wont crush us as a nation it will make us more vengeful and maybe even better parents (we all take things for granted)lets hug em a little more scream a little less and say i love you a whole lot more.

Why doesn't this shock me? I know why this does not shock me, it is because I hear about it all the time, and you want to know something, to the people out there who are thinking about it, have ye nothing better to do? Is life really that miserable that you have to go and do such things? And to parents and others, we live in desperate times, and thus we must be vigilant. Talk to your children's instructors and the school staff and find out what is being done to keep your children safe.

We don't need to have terrorists threatening our schools to be concerned. Our own people, our own children, threaten our schools all the time. The school my oldest daghter goes to has had two threats already this year. Anotherschool in the area was closed for a week and students were arrested because of a threat of violence...and we live out in a rural "quiet" area!

I saw that report too and it's truly terrifying. The thought that our children might be attacked like the children of Beslan were, is beyond anything I want to seriously contemplate. We depend on our government, all levels of it, to protect us. Our safet and security is, or maybe should be, its primary function and as such, I for one, am very cautious to elect only those representatives to any government office, who take terrorism seriously and make that their first priority. So, voting, I think is our first line of defense. It also makes sense to contact our children's schools and find out what type of emergency plans they have and how they are handling this, and other, threats.

"Terrorist" word means terror and anyone who creates terror amongst people on earth are terrorists. Problem with terrorists is that most of them are being goverened by thier leaders who in no case can fight for thier rights but can always instigate others to fight and die for thier individual interests.

I think it's up to the U.S. government to take action on this as well as the citizens be vigilant when they notice something unusual should reported to the authorities. Indeed the world is getting a dangerous place to live. You no longer who to trust and we don't feel safe anymore where we go.

I couldn't even fathom this. My children are not in school yet but for anyone to hurt children is just the most horrendous thing. That is why I really can't stand that they use their religion as the reason of their "crusade". What God would condone hurting anyone let alone children the most innocent. It makes me sick and sad that people see violence as a means of acheiving a goal.

I'm afraid its a question I've pondered for awhile, and one that ultimately has one answer: Its entirely impossible to prevent 100%. The reason for this is the simply because humans are as they are. Its impossible to regulate everyone, to head off every contention. I could suddenly sympathies with the terrorists and do something similar to what they plan. Just counting for members of actual terrorist groups, thats just as bad. You can fight an organization, you can kill its structure, kill its leader, ect.... but terrorist organizations are fueled by something stronger: Ideals. And, unfortunately, its impossible to kill and ideal. But, unfortunately, thats just what they're relying on. They don't even have to do anything. Just the fear of it happening is enough. Further, if they just do it once, then it would be 9/11 all over again, if not worse. If you've ever looked into terrorist theory, then you will know the extent of the problem. ...But, the main point is this. Terrorism rely on one, simple thing. Terror. The fact that your afraid means that they have been at least partially successful, and they haven't even lifted a finger.
