I think I am quitting AVON!

After doing really well with AVON for the last 6 months I think I am going to end my time with them. I have done well and I would make PC this year easily. BUT.... the fearful BUT.... I have always been the one to defend the behind the scenes problems with AVON until this week came to be. I was shipped a defective lip balm. Very simple, they are sending a new one. RIGHT?? Not so much! I get a phone call and an email stating that my order is on hold for non payment. ORDER??? I didn't order anything, all they were sending was the free replacement lip balm!! And NON-PAYMENT??? My payment isn't due until my next order goes in! I contacted my DM and was told the same thing. They would not ship it out until I paid my balance in full due to how many returns and defective replacements I have had lately. Are you kidding? I have been selling since April and I have never had a problem. I have been hit very heavy with returns lately and every order has at least 1 - 3 broken or defective items in it. So, now that I am pregnant and miserable with a HORRIBLE pregnancy. I now have had it with AVON. And to top it off I am losing my downline this campaign. I signed up 14 people, but most quit or have never sold. So I am about $250 short in unit sales to make unit leader. So they are taking my downline away as well!! I am tired of it. I joined AVON to have fun and all I am now is stressed!

Hi Packgirl, I had been a unit leader for 10 months now and it is indeed hard to maintain group sales. I experienced especially on my first month. Well, I tried to learn the business and recruited more downlines. It is paying me well now. Although, there are problems regarding stock availability and downline complains about service, I still managed to get to let them understand business and talked to my sales and operations manager about the problems to be addressed right away. I hope you will get get by it and stay with your AVON family. Happy sharing!

Thanks for your input. I had been emailing my district manager back and forth and the minute I said I was even THINKING about quitting or even taking time off the communication stopped and I have not had a response from her since!

we did Avon for about 6 months but it was just too stressful. and with the latest news it looks like it wont be around another year. so we moved to Forever living, the profit has been good, but the bonus's are great, also no stress, no delivering of catalogues, and a great team that helps you achieve. the other great beneifit, is if you stop for 1 month to 10 years, you dont loose your team or your place on the ladder, which is truly awesome. if you want to still work at home but earn more money then contact me at andy@enhanceyourliving.co.uk or visit or website www.enhanceyourliving.co.uk we wish we had changed earlier...

I do not blame you one bit. If it causes you too much stress, I would bail out too. It is not worth it to your health and overall being in the long run.

I joined Tiens, natural supplements and medication products. i'm now have tiens 4stars, the good thing about tiens is that eventhough i didn't make any sale, they accumulate points, never lowered stars we've achieved and never lose downline :) because the registration is for a lifetime. i love tiens, its chinese products, china is well known for herbal natural medicine

If it's giving you stress then I think you should quit, specially now that you are pregnant, don't stress your self too much, I'm sure you can find other ways to augment your income.Find other items to sell, join other direct selling companies..and with that,I can oly wish you the best and God bless!

I used to sell Avon, too. Recently, I was thinking about getting back into it. I'd forgotten all of the hassle... so thanks for reminding me. I don't need it! If I was you, I'd call up whatever constitutes the rep hotline these days and ask for a manager. Get his/her name, calmly explain the situation, and say, "Can you help me resolve this?" If they immediately say yes, let them do it. If they say no, or hedge, say "Thanks. Can I speak with your manager, please?" Often they'll want their boss to call you back. In my experience they're pretty good with doing so, but DO get both the last name and extension of the person you're speaking with and the last name and extension of the boss who is supposed to call, just in case they drop the ball. If you have a cell phone, be sure to give that # so they can easily reach you; they won't bend over backwards. Something like this happened to me, early on - it turned out that they'd applied my payment to someone else's account, or something like that (It's been 5+ years so I forget the details, but it was pretty dumb on their part!) Anyways, keep pushing for them to resolve it because if you quit and they think you owe them, it will go on your credit and they could pursue you in court.

I sold AVON years ago here in the UK. I enjoyed it at first and I liked a lot of the products but in the end it just got to be too much hassle for not enough reward. I see from your post that the administration of the company hasn't changed much - I had exactly the same sorts of problems and I'm talking at least ten years ago now!

Go for it. I quit Mary Kay when I found out how fake they were. Man, those woman are the biggest bunch of hypocrites I have ever known, they do not practice what they preach. Mary Kay, herself, did not practice what she preached.

i think you are right. i had a lot of problems with avon (the company) too. i sold avon for 10 years and there was a lot of time, i had problems with stuff not coming in etc. its hard to explain this in turn to the customer. as a result, i think while avon is a good product, the company isnt run so well (they dont really look after the average sales person!)

I have been in many home based businesses and you are right. If you are starting to get stressed by doing Avon, then it is time to quit. I did the same thing with Weekenders. I had 22 in my unit and my checks were over $1000 a month in comissions on what they sold. It was great until people started dropping out and the business started to be stressful and not fun anymore. I was so releived when I finally quit.

I sold for Avon for about 8 months and they said I had to pre-pay for my order before they even shipped it. I had never been late for a payment or had many returns. So I can see your stress. I quit for that to. I like avon but they are strict on payments.

I'm sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with them especially in this stressful time of your life, and also because you have worked hard and helped them by signing up more people. Is it any wonder that most of the 14 you signed have quit? I had a friend that sold for Avon a few years back and she had a lot of trouble with them not honoring their sales materials and sending her the wrong stuff. My grandma sold for them in the 1960's and she had a nice income from them. Some companies survive off their past reputations but are no longer reputable. My husband works with appliances a lot and he has found this to be true with some brands that have been around the longest.
