I just love to make gift baskets. They are one of the best and easiest gift to make. You can really personalize it for the receiver and have a lot of fun with it and they just love them. I like to do them for birthdays, baby showers, and Easter. They are perfect for anytime gift giving. All you need is a basket, the wrapping, a bow, and a little imagination. This is one way to get rid of a lot of the free samples we know we will never use, but enjoyed getting. You can go to the dollar or 99 cent store and buy everything that you will need. Including the trinkets and what not for the inside. Have you ever made a gift basket for someone?

I have only made a small few in my years - have never been one to do a good one LOL I always have trouble finding things to put in there and figuring out whether the person getting the gift basket is going to like it or not LOL yup too fussy I am !

Look, little Mrs. Perfect, if you do not consider whether or not you like the gifts that you put in, I am sure that you will find many wonderful things to add to the basket. Go to the dollar store and clean up. I am sure that you can find enough to put a smile on someones face. As long as they don't have your "fussy" taste, lol.

No, it does not have to take a lot of time or money. You can use a lot of the things that you already have around the house. You know all the awful things that you don't want to use, but feel that they are too valuable to throw away. Toss them in the basket. I was going through a phase where I was addicted to Lipton Tea. I have a box of 100 sitting in a drawer. I can always toss a few in a gift basket just for fillers. Use your imagination, but don't put too much in one basket. If you put too much in there, then it will look like you are trying to get rid of your junk, LOL.

Hi, Rozie, thank you for your reply. We have some one RMB and two RMB stores (like the 99-cent store in your country I think)here in our city in China. I will go there and search for something lovely to make my first gift basket. :)

I have never done a gift basket, but I have seen them in stores and they can be very expensive. My local college even offer courses and how to make them. I am going to attempt to make one for my sisters birthday in December.

Your college offers classes in basket making? I wonder how many credits you get for taking a class like that. That sounds fun and easy.

pic of a gift basket - ideas of a gift basket I am interested in.
I haven't, but I am interested in doing some soon. Perhaps we can message each other so I can pick your brain. I have one copy of Karinne Steffan's latest, which I read and finished, so I want to use that, perhaps, a pair of socks, a journal, pen and some pampering product(s) and put it together and perhaps sell it on Ebay. tell me how that sounds to you, and perhaps we can message each other.

There is no limit to the things that you can put in a gift basket, as long as it fits. You can put make-up, books, pasties, CD's and DVD's. Think of them as stocking stuffers. The only difference is that you want to be able to use the items to decorate the basket. For instance, I made a Christmas basket for a new friend one year. It was a last minute gift, so I had to really search and use my imagination. I got a little toy cup and put some Hershey kisses in there. Then, I got a little small teddy bear and sat him in the basket next to the cup and I put one of his paws in the top of the cup to make it look like he was going for a piece of candy. Then, I put what I call fillers around that scene. I got some lipstick, a key chain, and a bunch of other little things. Don't spend a lot of money, but don't use junk either. The basket itself can be the gift. So, you are putting gifts inside of the gift. Make sure the basket is in reusable shape. But, don't spend a lot of money on that either. All things combined will make it look expensive and nice. The way you dress it up, with the bow at the top is what makes the difference. For a kid, you can get a lot of cheap school supplies and dress the basket up real cute.

Fantastic idea Rozie. I do love them. I never get them but I like them. I think they are a good idea. I did try to do one one time but I made such a mess of it. I ended up getting a box and putting the items in a box and wrapping it. I am not to creative. Good for you I bet people enjoy getting your gifts.

Presentation is the most important thing when it comes to these kind of gifts. Get a friend to help you with some ideas. The first gift baskets that I made were terrible. My sister had triplets, so I made baskets for them for Easter. I got the three little baskets and put toys and candy and real eggs in there. I did not have the transparent paper to cover that baskets, so I wrapped them in wrapping paper with pink bunnies and it. It was totally disaterous, but kids don't care. As long as they get candy and it is colorful.

Hi Rozie37! I am thinking and imagining the beautiful baskets you are making and all those goodies you are putting. I could picture them to be so cute and perfect. I love receiving and at the same time love to give goooy baskets. I do make my own before but I guess, that was a long time ago. You have just reminded me the feeling I used to have when I create my goody baskets and I do love the feeling. I think this coming holidays, I will be making them once again. Thank you for reminding me. Take care and have a nice day.

It is a good idea to do it for the holidays. You can also save some money. If you go to a store where you can buy things in bulk and then just throw one of each into all the baskets.

I usually make a basket for my kids. It will have a couple of oranges an apple and then I put in some of their favorite snacks and add a movie gift card. They seem to love it. I try to pick some of the snacks that I don't buy but know that they like.

That is a great idea for reasonable Christmas presents for friends and family. I do this same thing myself except I use gift bags myself. I make them for my grandmother and my aunts and also my father and his wife.

Gift bags are a very good idea also. I do those sometimes too. I do not think that most people really have a preferrence as long as they like the things inside.

I've never made a gift basket before. But I have always thought about doing when. My cousin is having a baby soon so maybe I will try to put one together for her. They do make great gifts for anyone.

I don't make gift baskets nearly enough, but I do like making them for people. You can put so many awesome things into a gift basket, but also not break the bank to do it. I like making them for parents at the daycare on holidays and baskets for the kids birthdays.

I like making gift baskets too. You're right-it's easy and fun. I also think that the time and consideration you put in to making the basket makes the receiver feel special. They know you care and put thought into it.

Bag O Gift - bag of gift.
I love doing this sort of thing as well, I think giving just one bought present boring, I love to do up a basket or get a big box and individually wrap little gifts up to put in it surrounded by lots of packing stuff, it is bit like having their own big lucky dip, or putting lots of little gifts in the new shopping bags they have these days in all colours...you are right you can pick up some good things in the cheapy shops and design your gift around a persons interest, it is good fun as well....

When I had my business I actually sold a few gift baskets...not alot mind you but a couple...Last yr though I made my kids a Bath Gift Basket each for Xmas and I'm planning on doing it again this yr for my kids and a friend of mine as well....This yr though I'll be making blankets, bath bombs, lip balm, candles and a couple other things to go in them as well as the hair care, bath towel, scrubbies etc etc etc.....My kids LOVED THEM last yr, they got all sorts of goodies in them including new bathrobes and slippers :-D and the baskets I used were actually wicker laundry baskets i bought from the dollar store so now they have no excuse for their dirty laundry to be all over their bedroom floors LOL
