Does anyone have a dog that piddles?

We have a red English spaniel that piddles when someone new comes over. It's really quite annoying, but I think the dog just cannot help it. It's a kind of submissive doggy thing, I guess. Anyone else have a dog that does this? What can be done about it? Is our dog hopelessly a piddler for life?

Both of my dogs did this when they were puppies. I don't know how old your dog is but they can't fully control their bladders until they are about 6 months old, so that may be part of the problem. For one of my dogs we figured out that she would only pee if someone said "Baby" in an excited voice so we just stopped doing that and the piddling stopped too. With my other dog, she just grew out of it shortly before she turned 6 months. Good luck with your little problem. I hope it gets solved.

I had a dog that would go out and come back in and go on the floor. I got sick of it so I tied her outside all day and let her in at night. She still went on the floor so I put her back out and left her out all night. I would say about 1 week and we broke her because she found out if she went on the floor we wouldn't let her back in and she didn't like being out by herself.
