The attatched photo is a piece of art/knick-knack I bought many years ago. I think it is beautiful. It also is a great conservation piece as it is a real Butterfly. Do you like this? Do you own anything made of a real animal etc? I have another great pice from South Africa from a friend made with butterflies. That discussion will follow. What types of knick-knacks do you own/like? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

My 3 animals - Three small animals in a corner of my home.
I haven't nothing with butterflies even if I love them,so many kinds and colors just fantastic. I have a Small eagle, another one bird and a very small crocodile. All gift from same person. The truth is I wouldn't decide to by real animals in this position(I know there is a right words for the way they call animals like this but my poor English don't help me remember).

Wow grandpa bob, its really really nice! But I just pity this poor butterfly, she will not be able to spread her wings and fly for she is forever on that plastic or something. Its more beautiful to see if that butterfly be flying with the flowers and hopping from one flower to another. It makes me ant to free her from the confines of that container. Hope you have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Most butterflies lives are VERY short. A majority live just a week or less actually. It's a shame. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Lovely piece Bob. You know that I couldn't pass this one up! I am a butterfly collector. The one you have sits on a strawflower. I have only a few pieces that are made with real butterflies. Most of the pieces I have are made with butterfly designs.

That is a beautiful butterfly work of art. I am a butterfly lover. Have a wall mounting, encased in thick plastic, that has seven butterflies mounted to the back of the case. Three butterflies are larger ones. More people comment on the beauty of this art. Can't remember where I bought it but have never seen anything like this before in another home.

Check out the discussion called "South African Art" that I have started as well today. That one is more of an elaborate piece of artwork. I love butterflies as well. I have many plants/flowers in my yard to attrcat them each year. My grandsons love seeing so many at once. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It is beautiful...It reminds me of a piece my grandmother had...very similar to yours but I do not think the butterfly was real. I love items like this but don't really own any...I tend to buy them for other people. My mom has several hummingbird and rooster peices and I gave my mother-in-law a butterfly in a musical globe. I myself own a lot of angels but that is for another discussion! :)LOL

I love Terry Redlin. I have three of his pictures and nine of his plates. I also collect prints and watercolors from Nina Fritz. They are seaside pictures with children. I also collect John McCellen plates. They are also with beautiful children on them...I love stuff with kids on it. The Terry Redlin I collect however is not the wildlife. It's the Christmas and winter scenes.

I have a couple paintings by Redlin also. I buy them at auctions actually. I pay about the price of what the frame is worth too. Can't beat getting a Redlin painting for under $40. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The only "dreamcicle" I recall are those ice-cream bars that are orange with vanilla creme ice cream. Hahahaha! What are they to you? I am hoping you don't collect ice cream bars anyhow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Somewhere in my house I have a lamp with Butterflies in it with the fiber optic strings that also is a music box. I loved cranking the music box up & turning the light on watching & listening. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi Grandpa Bob, Something 'some' know about me, while others don't (of course), is that I've always loved butterflies. I have 'many things' in my home with this theme. I actually have 'a real butterfly' mounted in a case, as well. I'll see if I can get a photo of it, and include it in 'your other butterfly topic.' Very interesting discussion.

I'm not one for collecting/buying knick-knacks. Just not my style, I guess. Since I can't see the pic till afterwards, I'll add comment after I hit reply.

clay flower - I have a friend that makes these clay flowers. I have posted some of her work before. This narcissus is one of my favorite pieces. As you can see it is less than four inches tall. The flowers are so tiny. I don't know how she does it.
That is a beautiful piece. I'm not much for knick knacks, but I have a friend that makes minature flowers out of clay and I am nuts about them. I have bought several of her pieces. This narcissus is one of my favorites.

I like dolphins. I have a few knick/knacks and most of them are of this fish. I used to get lots of them but found collecting dust was all they were used for! sunnywaters

To show my respect to your good art work of insectarium or insectary, I have rated your photo after the user name "aidonia" placed comment there. And it is nice to display it in the guest hall/area to persuade people love the beauty of nature living thing and love butterfly, a symbol of freedom and harmony. Thank you Grandpa Bob.

I think that's really neat. I don't own anything that was from a real animal. My mother in law and her husband go hunting and he went to school for taxidermy. So they have a duck, a bob cat (it was a real one at one time and I'm so scared of that thing that I don't even like walking by it), they have deer heads, fish, etc...
